Christopher Murray, 51 from Lodi Passed Away in Vehicle vs Tree Collision in West Point

West Point, CA...Murray was driving his 1998 Mazda sedan eastbound on Winton Road at a high rate of speed. Murray failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle left the roadway and subsequently collided with a tree. Murray was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.

David Howard White 1933 - 2017

Hathaway Pines, CA...David Howard White was born to Howard White and Ellen Johnson White September 13, 1933 in Stockton, CA and grew up near Hathaway Pines. He began working in the logging industry for Linebaugh. Then served in the U.S. Army in Korea. David worked as a heavy equipment mechanic in Jamestown and Modesto. He eventually started his own business designing prototypes that automated lasers to the hydraulic systems of heavy equipment for land leveling.

Thomas Lloyd Jeffries 1944 - 2017

San Andreas, CA...Thomas Lloyd Jeffries was born on July 12, 1944 in Stockton, California, but if you asked him he'd tell you Tulsa, Okalhoma where his sisters were born. He passed away October 19, 2017 in Sonora, California, family and friends by his side. Tom lived out his life amongst the rolling hills of Calaveras County. A land surveyor for most of his life, hloved the outdoors and brought a unique passion to his work. Tom was a loving friend and father, always willing to help and generous with what he had. He is survived by his children, Greg Jeffries, John Jeffries, Christen Buis, and Caitlyn Jeffries along with his precious grandchildren, Koda Buis and Liam Colvard.

Angels Camp, CA...Alton “Ike” Lowell Callahan, 90, of Carson Hill died on October 6, 2017 at his home with his grandson Travis by his side. Ike was born in Angels Camp and resided most of his life in Carson Hill. Mr. Callahan was married to his late wife, Jacquelyn Lee Callahan for 41 years before her passing in 1997. He was retired from the Calaveras Cement Plant. Ike or “Ikey” as some know him loved gardening and fishing and was an excellent cook known for his delicious soups and “spaghetti sauce”. He was honorably discharged from the army in 1947. Ike love big band music and played in a band in his earlier years. He enjoyed his cigars and wine and loved watching sports.

Harvey, LA...From Wikipedia..."Antoine "Fats" Domino Jr. (February 26, 1928 – October 24, 2017) was an American pianist and singer-songwriter of French Creole descent. Five of his records released before 1955 sold over a million copies and were certified as gold records, and he had 35 records in the U.S. Billboard Top 40. His musical style is based on traditional rhythm and blues, accompanied by saxophones, bass, piano, electric guitar, and drums

Yosemite National Park Identifies Remains of Missing Sailor Alexander Sevier

Yosemite, CA...Yosemite National Park Rangers have positively identified the remains of Alexander Joseph Sevier, a visitor who was last seen in Yosemite Valley on May 3, 2017. Sevier, a member of the U.S. Navy was staying in Housekeeping Camp and was witnessed going out on day hikes each day during his visit. When he was reported missing, Park Rangers, with the aid of search dogs and a CHP helicopter, launched an extensive search looking for him. The search has been ongoing.

Collision on Hwy 132 Takes Life of Sarah Nicole Cahoon, 28 from Coulterville

Coulterville, CA...On October 17, 2017, at approximately 6:18 pm, 28 year old Coulterville resident, Sarah Cahoon, was driving a 2002 Mazda MPV, eastbound on State Route 132, west of Piney Creek Road, at an unknown speed. Cahoon allowed her vehicle to travel over the right shoulder and up an embankment south of the road edge. Cahoon's vehicle then overturned multiple times back onto the roadway. Cahoon was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle then rolled over Cahoon before it came to rest back on its wheels. Cahoon was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. 5 year old passenger, Michael Boesen, was also not wearing a seat belt and was thrown approximately 50 feet from the vehicle. Boesen was flown to UC Davis to be treated for major injuries. 9 year old passenger, Jasmin Povio, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and only sustained minor injuries.

John Wesley King 1932 - 2017

San Andreas, CA...John Wesley King passed away on Oct. 10, 2017 of natural causes. He was born Oct. 27, 1932 in Akron, Ohio and lived in San Andreas for the last 15 years. After completing the 9th grade he began working to help support his family. He was honorably discharged from the US Army after serving from 1950 to 1954. He was retired after being self-employed in the construction industry for 50 years.

Paloma, CA...Arlene Cloward Ashcraft, December 22, 1934 - October 10, 2017. Arlene Ashcraft, age 82, passed in her home in Paloma CA with her family by her side after a long illness with Breast Cancer and Lymphadema. Arleme was born in Salt Lake City Utah to Marie and R.l. Cloward. When she was six months old she came to Modesto Ca with her parents, her Aunt Fern and her two year old brother, George. Arlene grew up in Modesto, graduating from Modesto High School in 1952. Soon thereafter, she met Eddie Ashcraft and they were married on March 11, 1953. They lived in Modesto where their children ,Susan and Kenneth were born. In 1978, they moved to Paloma Ca on their hill top property.

Barden Stevenot 1936 - 2017 Veteran, Business Pioneer & More

Angels Camp, CA...Barden Stevenot was born in San Francisco on August 27, 1936. He was raised primarily in Angels Camp, which was the ancestral home of several generations of his family, some of whom arrived in the early days of the gold rush. He attended Angels Camp grammar school and Bret Harte high school where he graduated in 1954. He received a degree in cultural anthropology from Sacramento State College and served in the Navy as an officer in Explosive Ordnance Disposal. He returned from service in 1964 and pursued a diverse career in business . Notable projects were initial development of Kirkwood ski area, where he served as vice president and general manager; Carson Hill Gold Mining Corporation, where he served as president and a member of the board during its development in the 1980s; Stevenot Winery, founded in 1970s, a precursor to the wine industry in Calaveras County; Greenhorn Creek golf course and community, which he initiated in the early 1990s and pursued as Managing General Partner until its completion.
