Judith (Judy) Lynn Morris McCarroll 1947 - 2018

Murphys, CA...Judith (Judy) Lynn Morris McCarroll, March 3, 1947 – May 14, 2018. Following a lengthy battle with Congestive Heart Failure, Judy McCarroll passed away in her home the morning of May 14. Judy is survived by her husband Dave, her two sons Mike and Charles, both of San Jose, plus four grandchildren (Ryan, Kevin, Danny, Levi) and her brother John from Orange County.

Douglas W. Ury 1949 – May 2018

Copperopolis, CA...Douglas W. Ury, March 14, 1949 – May 18, 2018. Douglas Ury passed away peacefully at home on May 18, 2018, in Copperopolis, California with his wife Suzanne by his side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer and pulmonary disease. Doug was born on March 14, 1949, in Oakland, California, the son of Adrian and Esther Ury. He grew up in San Leandro and graduated from San Leandro High School, Chabot College and San Jose State University. He also served in The United States Navy. Prior to moving to the Sierra Foothills in 2017, Doug lived in Menlo Park, California for 44 years where he and his wife Suzanne married and raised their 2 children. Doug had a long and fulfilling career as an Electrical Engineer in Silicon Valley having worked for Raytheon, Fairchild, Memorex, National Semiconductor and Advantest. He was an avid reader and always known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Suzanne Klika Ury; their children Erin Nicole Ury of Watsonville and Timothy Colin Ury, United States Air Force (currently stationed in Ohio); brother Roger Ury of Gilbert, Arizona, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Wilma Caughell.

Daniel Abel Ramirez 1930 - 2018

Copperopolis, CA...In the early hours of May 9th, 2018, Daniel Abel Ramirez passed away peacefully in his sleep. Born June 11th, 1930, in San Jose, CA, he was 87 years old at his passing. He leaves behind his brother, Ben Ramirez, and his two children, Lisa Jacobson and Daniel Ramirez, Jr. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, all whom he loved dearly. The memorial service will be held at the Crossroads Church in Copperopolis, CA, on June 9th, 2018, beginning at 11:00 a.m."

Joseph Franco, Jr. 1929 - 2018 Korean & Vietnam Veteran & Bronze Star Recipient

Ione, CA..Joseph Franco, Jr. passed away after a brief illness on March 20, 2018 at the age of 88. Joe was born April 25, 1929 in Harlem, New York City to Jose Franco and Esther Morales Franco. He began his career in the US Army at age 17 and was a veteran of both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Joe was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Achievement in Ground Operations Against Hostile Forces in Vietnam. After marrying Patricia Lou Germeyer in 1953 he served as a military policeman and prison guard, moving with his family to many posts across the US, including Ft. Benning, GA, Ft. Jay, NY, Ft. Leavenworth, KS and Ft. Huachuca, AZ. Joe also served overseas in both Germany and Okinawa. Joe retired from the military in 1970, at the rank of Sergeant First Class and eventually settled in Pleasanton, California where he worked as a guard at the Oakland Museum. He was a lifelong baseball fan and adopted the Oakland A’s as his home team. Upon retirement he and his wife moved to Wilseyville in the Sierras, where Joe was involved with the West Point Lions Club for many years, as well as the West Point chapters of the VFW and the American Legion. In recent years they resided in Ione, California, eventually moving to Stockton.

Valley Springs, CA...On Saturday, May 5, 2018 @ 10:32am, the Charming Husband (William Kim ‘Bill’ Crane) passed away. It was SO peaceful and for that we are beyond grateful! Everyone should be so blessed to transition with as much love and support. Bill’s life was and will continue to be remembered as one of love and kindness personified. He gave his time, energy and talents in support of the Friends of the Library (annual Melodramas!), the Valley Springs Youth and Family Center, the Volunteer Center, CERT, the American Red Cross, American Legion Post 102, Mark Twain Medical Center Health Fairs, Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program, the Valley Springs Fairy Tale Garden and many other community projects.

Three Year Old Drowns in Neighbor's Pool in San Andreas

San Andreas, CA...On May 16, 2018, a 3-year-old male wandered away from his residence on Pine Street in San Andreas. The Calaveras Sheriff Emergency Dispatch Center was notified at approximately 6:20 PM, at which time a full response from Sheriff’s patrol deputies, Sheriff’s Search and Rescue personnel, officers from the California Highway Patrol, fire and medic units, and citizen volunteers was initiated.

Missing Skier Thomas Dennis Mullarkey Recovered Today

Bear Valley, CA...On March 14, 2018, at approximately 11:00pm Jane-Drummond Mullarkey reported to the Alpine County Sheriff’s Office that her husband, Thomas Mullarkey, had not returned to their cabin after a day of skiing at the Bear valley Resort. The Alpine County Sheriff’s Office initiated a full-scale search that continued for five days during which heavy snow, avalanche danger and poor visibility conditions persisted. Based on information gathered by investigators, the search was focused within the resort’s boundary. On March 19, 2018, the Alpine County Sheriff’s Office reduced the search to a limited but continuous search both within the resort’s perimeter and surrounding backcountry as the snow pack melted.

Jimmy E. Gaylor 1956 - 2018

Burson, CA...Jimmy E. Gaylor, age 61, passed away in his sleep on the night of Tuesday, May 1st, 2018 at his home in Burson, CA. He was born on December 25th, 1956 at Castle Air Force Base in Merced, CA to Earl Gaylor and Margaret (Nemec) Gaylor. At the age of 9 Jimmy learned to play guitar, and as he grew older he played bass for a country band called “The Drifters.” He played with The Drifters for 20 years. He loved working outside so much that he became a landscaper for the La Contenta Golf and Country Club for 34 years. Jimmy was a wonderful man. He was a member of the Burson Full Gospel Church for many years. He loved to fish and cook, and he enjoyed helping others. He was loved by many.
