Angels Camp, CA...Alberta Francis Castle Drace, March 22, 1932-May 27-2018. Alberta (Cry)Frances Castle Drace 86 passed away Sunday May 27 in Modesto. She was born in Angels Camp to Guy and Dorthey Castle. She graduated from Bret Harte High School. Alberta worked as a waitress for over 40 years in Sonora. Many will remember her at the old Europa Cafe on Washington Street on the morning shift during the 60’s and 70’s. In her younger years she loved bowling and playing softball. Her sons remember her cooking for all the neighborhood kids.

San Andreas, CA...Raymond Lloyd Donovan, Born on March 3rd, 1926 and passed away on June 4th, 2018 in San Andreas at the age of 92 from natural causes. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corps. He loved to camp and was a camp host for many years.

He was noted by popular sources as one of the most influential chefs in the world. Bourdain was found dead of an apparent suicide by his friend Eric Ripert on June 8, 2018, in his hotel room in Strasbourg, France, where he was shooting an episode of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. Bettie Louise Baker 1933 - 2018

Murphys, CA...Bettie Louise Baker died on May 26, 2018 at her home in Murphys at the age of 85 with her family by her side after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Bettie was born February 23rd 1933 in Los Angeles California. She is survived by her daughter and son in law Anita and Roy Beck of Murphys, grandchildren Jeff Palatini of Murphys, Dawn Beck of Murphys, Tracy Schweiger of Pollock Pines, Jim Beck of Gridley, and Kevin Beck of Biggs. Bettie is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and special friend Danny Freeman.

Santa Clara, CA...Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver and Edward J. DeBartolo Sr. 49ers Hall of Famer Dwight Clark passed away peacefully on Monday, June 4th at the age of 61 surrounded by friends and family. “The San Francisco 49ers family has suffered a tremendous loss today with the passing of Dwight Clark. We extend our condolences and prayers to Dwight’s wife, Kelly, his family, friends and fans, as we join together to mourn the death of one the most beloved figures in 49ers history. For almost four decades, he served as a charismatic ambassador for our team and the Bay Area. We will pass along the official obituary as it becomes available..."With heavy hearts my Dad and Uncle and the rest of our family want to announce the passing last night of Glen Croshaw, beloved father, grandpa, great grandpa and friend. Grandpa Glen charged his life until the very end. He was working at Angels Food Market Wednesday doing what he loved so much; enjoying customers, his family and keeping up the grocery store.

Two Climbers Fall from El Capitan in Yosemite National Park

Yosemite, CA...Yosemite National Park identifies the two climbers who fell from the Free Blast route on El Capitan as Jason Wells, age 46, of Boulder, Colorado and Tim Klien, age 42, from Palmdale, California. Yosemite National Park Rangers received multiple 911 calls at approximately 8:15 am reporting that two climbers had fallen. Yosemite Park Rangers and Search and Rescue staff responded to El Capitan. The two climbers did not survive the fall.

Journalist & Teacher Scott Bruce (Scotty) Kirkpatrick Has Passed Away at 73

Murphys, CA...Scott Bruce (Scotty) Kirkpatrick, of Sheep Ranch, passed away on Memorial Day, May 28, 2018, after a battle with cancer. He was 73 years old. Scott was born in San Francisco and grew up in Murphys. He attended Calaveras High School, where he excelled at academics, music and sports. He won the Northern Californian decathlon championship and held the pole vault record for many years. He was also the Valedictorian of his graduating class. After high school, Scott joined the Army and served for four years in Fort Hood, Texas, and in Germany with the 2nd Armored Division. Upon his honorable discharge Scott received a degree from Stanislaus State University and began work as a newspaper reporter, first with the Merced Sun Star and then the Manteca Bulletin. He continued with his schooling, received a teaching credential and taught school and coached soccer for many years in Livingston, Susanville, and in the Mount Shasta area.

He was born in MA on August 17, 1944, and has lived in Valley Springs for the past 20 yrs. US Navy Flight Engineer and Atlas Air FE on Boeing 747 Cargo Aircraft flown by Atlas Airlines, FFDO Officer.
