Hay Bales Cause Sacramento Area Couple's Death in Hwy 88 Motorcycle Collision

Kirkwood, CA...On 8-10-2018 at approximately 1105 hours, Jim Hutton a resident of Sacramento and his passenger, Theresa Lish a resident of Auburn were traveling eastbound at approximately 50 miles per hour on their 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle on SR-88 behind 5 other motorcycles in a group. When they were east of Mormon Emigrant Trail, Mr. Hutton was in the last or trail position behind the rest of the group and a pickup truck. Approximately .1 miles east of Mormon Emigrant trail a semi truck with two trailers loaded with large bales of Alfalfa hay, driven by Timothy Roe, a resident of Hanford was traveling westbound rounding a right hand curve in the roadway approaching the group of motorcycles.

Motorcycle Collision Takes Life of 49 Year Old Stockton Man

Ione, CA...On August 4th at approximately 1:43pm Carl W. Hudson, 49 from Stockton lost his life near Buena Vista Road and Hwy 88. He was riding his 2011 Kawasaki ZX10 southbound on Buena Vista Road, south of Hwy 88 at a high rate of speed. The road is currently under construction and road closed barricades have been placed just south of the entrance to Ace's Waste Station.

Arnold, CA...(Update...On Sunday August 5th, access to the White Pines Lake Beach parking area will be closed to the public for a Firefighters Memorial and procession and followed by a celebration of life at the Moose Lodge.) It is with deep regret that the Ebbetts Pass Fire District must announce the passing of one of our Board of Directors John Daniel “Dan” Leary. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 5th at 3:00 PM at Ebbetts Pass Fire District Station 1, located at 1037 Blagen Road in Arnold, CA 95223. The service will be held with full Fire Department Honors. After the funeral service, the Ebbetts Pass - Moose Lodge 1123, would like to invite you to celebrate the life of Dan Leary at their Lodge located at 1965 Blagen Rd, Arnold, CA 95223.

Governor Brown Lowers Capitol Flags in Honor of Fallen Firefighters, Secures Assistance to Support Communities Impacted by Carr Fire

Sacramento, CA...Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. has ordered Capitol flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of two firefighters who died while working on the Carr Fire in Shasta County – Redding Fire Prevention Inspector Jeremiah “Jeremy” Stoke and a bulldozer operator whose name has not been released. “Anne and I were devastated to learn about the deaths of these two heroes who lost their lives while protecting their fellow Californians,” said Governor Brown. “We honor them and all the first responders who are working day and night to protect life and property as wildfires continue to burn across the state.”

Jay is survived by her wife of 10 years, Stacey Hebrard of Valley Springs, Ca. She is also survived by her nieces Amy Heymann Patterson and Janet Powell, nephews Thomas and Fritz Heymann, and her great nieces Katharine, Barbara and Alyssa Patterson.

John Santiago Jr. 1943 - 2018

Valley Springs, CA...John Santiago Jr. born in Waipahu, Hi, on June 15, 1943 died July 19,2018 at his home in Burson, Ca. of Progress Supranuclear Palsy. John lived in Makaha and attended Waipahu High School before moving to California, he was a graduate of North Highland High School, American River J.C. and Chabot College. John served in the U. S .Army March 1964 to 1966 was an E-4 Specialist. John was employed as an industrial Maintenance Mechanic for over 44 years. ln San Leandro he was employed by Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical for over 2L years and Latchford Glass. Plant closers brought him to the Valley. John was a mechanic on the bottling line at Sebastian Winery in Lodi and later became a facility maintenance mechanic at Sebastian Winery became Turner Road Vintners. John retired after 21 years at the winery.

Ferguson Fire Claims Another Firefighter's Life

Yosemite, CA...This morning, park officials were informed that a firefighter from Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks was killed in the line of duty on the Ferguson Fire in Mariposa County. The firefighter’s identity is being withheld until appropriate family notifications have been made. The fatal incident occurred earlier this morning. At the time, the firefighter and his crew were engaged in a tactical firing operation on the east side of the Ferguson Fire.
