Arnold, CA...It is with deep regret that the Ebbetts Pass Fire District must announce the passing of one of our Board of Directors John Daniel “Dan” Leary. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 5th at 3:00 PM at Ebbetts Pass Fire District Station 1, located at 1037 Blagen Road in Arnold, CA 95223. The service will be held with full Fire Department Honors. After the funeral service, the Ebbetts Pass - Moose Lodge 1123, would like to invite you to celebrate the life of Dan Leary at their Lodge located at 1965 Blagen Rd, Arnold, CA 95223.

San Andreas, CA...Samuel Scott Perry, 73, of San Andreas passed away unexpectedly on July 19, 2018. A Celebration of Life for Sam, is scheduled for Wednesday July 25th, 10 am at San Andreas Memorial Chapel located at 254 W. St Charles Street, San Andreas California. Reception to follow at Sam and Joan’s home, 445 Oak Place in San Andreas. Sam was born in Turlock, California to Rex and Ruth Perry on June 11th,1945. He was the youngest of eight children. Sam married his wife Joan, September 25th 1982.

San Andreas, CA...Desiree Licon was born July 21st, 1990 in San Jose, CA and passed away July 15, 2018 in San Andreas, CA. She was an accomplished Cheerleader from the young age of 7 years old, cheering for Pop Warner and competitive cheer teams. Desiree was active in Dance and Drama and always loved to write and perform skits to be funny and silly. Desiree grew up very close to her cousins whom she shared a special bond with.

Another Fatality on our Local Roads as 73 Year Old San Andreas Man Loses Life in Collision |

San Andreas, CA...On July 19, 2018, at approximately 1310 hours, a San Andreas man was driving a 1966 Chevy C10 truck, eastbound on Russell Road, approaching Market Street, at an unknown speed. For a yet to be determined reason, He made an unsafe turning movement and steered his pickup to the left. The front of the truck collided with a small tree, a large concrete block column and wood sign. He was pronounced deceased at the scene despite life saving efforts by emergency personnel.

Dorthea J Martz, 36, from Angels Camp Passed Away in July 15th Collision |

Angels Camp, CA...The sad notifications have been made and CHP has released updated details on the fatal collision we reported earlier on. From CHP.."On July 15, 2018, at approximately 1920 hours, Dorthea J Martz was driving her 2005 Subaru eastbound on Vallecito Road, east of Rolleri Bypass at a high rate of speed. Mr. Sanders was driving his 1980 Ford westbound on Vallecito Road, east of Rolleri Bypass at 40 mph approaching the 2005 Subaru. Ms. Martz attempted to negotiate a right hand curve and allowed her vehicle to travel across the double yellow line into the westbound lane. The left front of the Subaru collided with the left rear of the Ford. The Subaru continued eastbound and off of the roadway. The Subaru overturned twice, ejecting her from the vehicle.

Bryan Fredrick Parks has Passed Away at 86 |

San Andreas, CA...It is with great sadness that the family of Bryan Fredrick Parks announces his passing after a brief illness, on Tuesday July 10, 2018 at the age of 86 years. Bryan will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years Kathleen (Kay) and his children, Kathy, Frank, Bryan Jr., Laurie, Michael, and Gregory. Bryan will also be remembered by his sister Helen and many wonderful grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Bryan was predeceased by his brothers Frank Jr. and Robert (Bobby), and sons Tony and Kenneth (Kenny).

Hwy 108 & Hwy 120 Collision Takes Lives of Elderly Sonora Man & Woman |

Jamestown, CA...On Sunday, July 15, 2018, at approximately 6:14 pm, a 91 year old male Sonora resident was driving a 1993 Toyota Camry eastbound on State Route 120/108, approaching Yosemite Junction. At this time, 42 year old Berkeley resident, Julieta Pisani-McCarthy, was driving a 2017 Ford Fiesta, westbound on State Route 120 intending to make a left turn onto State Route 120/108, at Yosemite Junction. For unknown reasons, Pisani-McCarthy failed to yield the right away to the approaching Toyota Camry and started into the intersection directly into the path of the Toyota Camry. The driver of the Toyota Camry was unable to avoid colliding into the left front of the Ford Fiesta.

DoD Identifies Air Force Casualty |

Washington, DC...The Department of Defense announced today the death of an airman who was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve. Staff Sgt. James T. Grotjan, 26, of Waterford, Connecticut, died July 12 at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, from injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident July 8 at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates.

El Portal, CA...It is with deep sadness that CAL FIRE can confirm that this morning while battling the Ferguson Fire on the Sierra National Forest, CAL FIRE Heavy Fire Equipment Operator Braden Varney from the CAL FIRE Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit was tragically killed. He leaves behind a wife and two small children. Please join us in keeping Braden, his loved ones and his fellow fire family in your thoughts as they grieve this sudden loss.
