Murphys, CA...Twenty-two year Calaveras County and late Murphys resident, Robert Duane Hall, passed away September 10th in Maui, HI from heart failure at age 77. Born in Utah, Bob served four years in the U.S. Navy, two of them aboard the aircraft carrier USS Midway, before pursuing a 45 year career in the freight-trucking and warehousing industry. He semi-actively retired to Calaveras County in 1998. During the intervening years, Bob worked for Sierra Energy, managing the retail convenience store and station in San Andreas, was employed by the Saddle Creek Golf Resort in Copperopolis, by the US Census Bureau, working on several survey projects, and in recent years, by Stevenot winery, Ironstone winery and the Bunting winery, where he was employed until his passing.

San Andreas, CA...Connor was driving his vehicle westbound on State Route 12 west of State Route 49, at an unknown speed. Connor, for an unknown reason allowed his vehicle to leave the roadway onto the north shoulder of State Route 12. Connor unsafely turned to the left. The vehicle crossed both lanes of traffic and traveled off the roadway and onto the south shoulder of State Route 12. The vehicle continued across the shoulder, went down the embankment and collided with a tree. The vehicle continued in a south west direction and collided with the dirt embankment causing the vehicle to overturn.
Fatal Motorcycle Collision Takes Life of 22 Year Old Sonora Woman

Sonora, CA...On September 15, 2019, at approximately 12:35am, 22-year-old, Gavin Daniel Rodgers from Sonora was riding his 1993 Harley Davidson motorcycle with a 22-year-old female passenger from Sonora. They were traveling northbound on Longeway Road at an undetermined rate of speed. As he approached Phoenix Lake Road, he failed to stop for the posted stop sign and began to make a left turn onto westbound Phoenix Lake Road. As he continued to make the left turn, he lost control of the motorcycle and it overturned onto its left side. As a result, both Mr. Rodgers and his passenger were ejected from the motorcycle. Mr. Rodgers sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. His female passenger suffered major injuries and unfortunately, she succumbed to those injuries at the scene.
Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Hwy 49 Takes Life of Clovis Man

Coulterville, CA...On September 6, 2019 at approximately 8:55 pm, a 57-year-old male from Clovis, CA, was riding his 2006 Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle northbound on State Route 49 north of the Tuolumne/Mariposa County line at an unknown rate of speed. As he entered a slight left curve in the roadway, the rider allowed his motorcycle to travel onto the east gravel shoulder of State Route 49. He lost control of his motorcycle and it overturned and struck a road sign. The rider was ejected, and the motorcycle came to rest on top of him.
Angels Camp, CA..On August 28, 2019 Randy McNurlin passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 59. He was born on August 8, 1960 to Carroll and Sharil McNurlin. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, baseball and most of all his family. He was self employed for 20 years and later went on to work for Tuolumne County Humane Society. He managed the Humane Society up till his lupus forced him into retirement. He continued to stay active and went on to volunteer his time and knowledge to develop the Calaveras Humane Society’s new facility and structure. Outside of work Randy enjoyed coaching his children in sports on and off the field. This lead him to coach the Special Olympics for several years.

Murphys, CA...(Update...We have confirmed with the San Andreas CHP Office that 59 year old Kevin Horigan has passed away from his injuries. They have also sent an updated release) Earlier details from CHP..."On August 25, 2019, at approximately 1624 hours, Horigan was driving his 2013 Mazda MX-5 eastbound on SR-4, west of Williams Street. Lynch Gillespie was driving her 2014 Subaru Impreza westbound on SR-4, west of Williams Street. For reasons still under investigation, the Miata driver unsafely allowed his Mazda to cross over the painted solid double yellow lines separating the east and westbound lanes of SR-4, directly in the path of the approaching Subaru. The front of the Mazda and the front of the Subaru collided within the westbound lane of SR-4, west of Williams Street. Following the collision, the vehicles came to rest blocking the westbound lane.
Murphys, CA...Catherine (Cathy) Jean Gibson, born September 6, 1952 in Stockton, CA., passed away on August 16, 2019 in Knights Ferry, CA., she was 66 yrs old. Cathy was an active member of Eastern Star for 42 years 9 and a half months, which she loved dearly. She is survived by Mother Reba Gibson, Brother Bruce Gibson, Sisters Karen (Nick) Wright and Jodie Gibson. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday August 31, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Murphys Masonic Hall 384 Church St., Murphys, Ca.
Sad Update....Missing Teen Jake Wiebe Found Deceased

Jamestown, CA....From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept...."Update Sunday, August 25th, We have a sad update regarding a missing man reported earlier this week. The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (SAR) team found the body of a man matching the description of Jake Wiebe near the base of a cliff on Chicken Ranch Road. The Wiebe family has been notified and an autopsy will be conducted to determine cause of death. Foul play is not suspected. We share our heartfelt condolences to the Wiebe family for their loss.
Mountain Ranch, CA...Judith Anne Marshall passed away on August 15, 2019. She died at Mark Twain Hospital with her son by her side. She was battling brain cancer. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 5, 1943, she was 76 years old. Judith graduated from the University of Oregon and worked as a social worker.
