Sonora Residents Pilot Robert Clough, 73 & Passenger Robert Parriott, 71 Perished in Yesterday's Airplane Crash

Columbia, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Office..."The victims have been identified as 73-year-old Robert Clough and 71-year-old Robert Parriott, both of Sonora. Robert Clough was determined to be the pilot and Robert Parriott the solo passenger inside the aircraft. The preliminary cause of death is major trauma; however, the final cause is pending autopsy. The cause of the crash along with the circumstances are being investigated by the NTSB. We are saddened by this tragic loss and want to extend our condolences to their family and friends.

Hollywood, CA..."Kirk Douglas (born Issur Danielovitch; December 9, 1916 – February 5, 2020) was an American actor, producer, director and author. A centenarian, he was one of the last surviving stars of the film industry's Golden Age.[2] After an impoverished childhood with immigrant parents and six sisters, he made his film debut in The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (1946) with Barbara Stanwyck. Douglas soon developed into a leading box-office star throughout the 1950s, known for serious dramas, including westerns and war movies. During his career, he appeared in more than 90 movies. Pierce Orion Emerson Gone All Too Soon

Murphys, CA...Pierce Orion Emerson, son of Kenneth Emerson and Kristen Mergl of Murphys, California, passed away on January 30, 2020, at the tender age of 2 years old after battling a rare genetic disorder. He died at home with his family by his side. Pierce will be remembered for his bubbly personality and big heart, and most of all, for bringing everyone around him closer together. In such a short life, Pierce taught us true love and true loss and the strength of family.

John Vincent Tiscornia 1938 - 2020

San Andreas, CA...John was born December 1, 1938, in Stockton, California, the son of Vincent and Kathryn Segale Tiscornia and passed on his ranch near San Andreas January 30, 2020, at the age of 81. John was a sixth generation resident of Calaveras County descended from San Andreas, Murphys, Jesus Maria, and Mountain Ranch pioneer families. The Tiscornia family has been in business in the county continually for over 150 years with John being a cattle rancher and General Partner of Tiscornia Ranches L.P. until his death.

Arnold, CA...June C. Souza 1931 - 2020. June Souza passed away peacefully on Jan. 24, 2020 in Sonora, with family by her side. Born in Oakland CA, June lived in Walnut Creek until retiring to Arnold in 1982. She was a baker for 14 years for the Mount Diablo school district. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, enjoying wildlife, and raising dachshunds.

Los Angeles Lakers Legend Kobe Bryant Dies at 41 in Helicopter Crash

Los Angeles, CA...(AP) — Kobe Bryant, the 18-time NBA All-Star who won five championships and became one of the greatest basketball players of his generation during a 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers, died in a helicopter crash Sunday. He was 41. Bryant died in a helicopter crash near Calabasas, California, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press. It was unclear if family members were on the helicopter. The crash happened around 10 a.m. near about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

Names of Americans Lost in Fire Fighting C-130 Tanker Crash Have Been Released

Port Alberni, BC...Coulson Aviation has released the names and bios of the three Americans lost fighting fires in Australia. This C-130 as mentioned earlier was part of our local C-130 tanker operations out of Sacramento. What follows is from Coulson. C-130 Aircraft Incident Update Our deepest condolences are with the family and friends of our fallen heroes. Yesterday we lost three members of our Coulson Aviation Family in Australia onboard one of our C-130 aircraft.

Tanker Crash That Claimed Three Americans Lives Was Part of California’s C-130 Program

Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom issued the following statement today on the loss of American firefighters who were the crew on one of California’s critical firefighting aircraft, while fighting wildfires in Australia: “Jennifer and I are heartbroken to learn of the air tanker crash in Australia that claimed the lives of three heroic American firefighters. We extend our sincere condolences to the families of the crew, their friends and loved ones, and our own CAL FIRE family who worked, fought fires, and trained with the crew of Tanker 134. This tragic accident reminds us all of the too-high cost of the scourge of wildfires, as well as the sacrifice of first responders from around the world. California and Australia, already united by the deadly threat of wildfires, now grieve this tragic loss together.”

Clarence Earl Winter July 26, 1937 ~ January 12, 2020

Arnold, CA...Clarence Winter, 82 years of age, passed away peacefully on January 12th, 2020 at St Joseph’s Hospital. Clarence was born on July 26th, 1937 in Watsonville, California to Bessie Watson and Royce Winter. He grew up in Visalia, California and was a graduate of Mount Whitney High School. Clarence was survived by his wife of 61 ½ years , LaDon Winter. They met when they were 17 years old and built a beautiful life together. Clarence worked over 30 years in the Local 3 Operators Union. He helped develop the bay area on the light rail system in San Jose, CA. He was also in charge of the freeway bypass from San Jose to Gilroy and built the California aqueduct to get water from Northern California to Southern California among his many accomplishments.
