Former Angels Camp resident Evelyn Huls peacefully joined her beloved husband Roscoe in eternal rest on December 17, 2010 in Bakersfield, California. She was 87 years old. Evelyn was born in Oklahoma to parents William Lovell and Lucy Mae Hickam. In her early teens she married Roscoe Huls and they had two daughters. When the children were young, they moved to Colorado for a short time and then to Tracy, California. In 1950 they moved to West Point, California, and later to Angels Camp.....

Matt Brubaker, 51, after losing his battle with cancer, passed away on December 15th 2010 at the Veterans Hospital, Palo Alto with his loving family by his side. He was born in Turlock, CA on December 31st 1958 to Virginia and Ted Brubaker. Matt was a dedicated and passionate auto technician, owning and operating his own businesses in Calaveras County since 1989. Matt served in the US Air Force until 1981. Arnold, CA...William “Bill” Holstein passed away at the age of 71 on November 26th, 2010 at his home in Arnold. He was born August 17, 1939 in Madison, Wisconsin. Bill graduated from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse with a degree in Business and History. He moved to California in 1989 and on March 22, 1991 married his College sweetheart, Jill in Concord. CA. He is survived by wife Jill; Sister Alice Holstein, LaCrosse, WI; son Jason and daughter Laura, both of WI; step-daughters Lisa (Gary) Lee of Arnold: Robyn (Danny) Echevarria, Corona, CA; step-son David (Kelli) Teteak, So. San Andreas, CA.....Barry Jackson, born Barron William Jackson set sail on his final voyage on November 24th 2010 at the age of 60.Most of the last 25 years of Barry's life was spent as a merchant seaman and commercial fisherman. Barry is the son of John W.Jackson,a CDF Ranger in San Andreas for over thirty years and Marjorie Nadine Jackson,former Calaveras County Clerk and Recorder.He is survived by his niece Hannah Jackson,brother and sister-in-law,Pip and Sue and oldest brother Tim and his wife Barbara.....

Kelly Welch Has So Sadly Passed Away

Dr. Kelly Welch passed away on December 5, 2010 in Sacramento, California at the age of 50. She was born on January 24, 1960 in Sacramento. Kelly was a 1978 graduate of Mira Loma High School and went on to study at UC Davis, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1983. In 1990 she graduated from UC Berkeley with a Doctor of Optometry degree. Kelly practiced optometry in the San Francisco bay area after graduation, and most recently practiced in Arnold, California at Sierra Vista Optometry. Kelly leaves behind two sons, Andrew and Kevin, who attended Avery Middle School and Bret .....

Theresa Douglas passed away suddenly on Sunday November 14, 2010 of unexpected heart failure. She was 39 years old and lived her entire life in California. She was born in Bellflower, California on April 2, 1971. She is survived by her parents Gary and Lana Lentz, her husband of 19 years Gregory Lee Douglas, daughter Amanda Jane Kuck, age 22 and brother Danny Albert Lentz, age 41. Theresa and Greg have lived and worked in Angels Camp for over 8 years. Theresa enjoyed being a realtor in this area and enjoyed volunteering for many community activities. Memorial services will be held for Theresa on Friday November 19, 2010 at 1:00P.M. at Foothill Community Church located at 3710 Whittle Road, Angels Camp, Calif. 95222. Join Theresa in the fight for Cystic Fibrosis to help a very special little girl, Virginia Blue, who was very dear to ......

San Andreas, CA....A Memorial Service for Valley Springs resident John Dennis Dorny, formerly of Tracy, is planned for Wednesday November 10th. John Dennis Dorny died November 5, in San Andreas after a short illness. The service will be Wednesday, November 10, at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in San Andreas. Viewing will be at 10:00 am prior to the Service. Born in Salt Lake City Utah, Dennis Dorny was an elementary school teacher in California for 35 years. The family moved to Tracy in 1976 where he was active in local sports with his sons and daughter. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who later became a photographer who was published and won many awards for his photography. Mr. Dorny was an Eagle Scout and was involved in various youth programs throughout his life. ....

A native of Piedmont, California, Mrs. Garrett was born September 26, 1930 and graduated from Piedmont High in 1948. She was married for 57 years to Gerry Wendell Garrett, who preceded her in death in 2009. ....

Samuel James Wiens, 79, of Murphys, died peacefully on November 1, 2010, following complications of cardiac arrest. He was born to the late Jacob and Mary Wiens, on May 6, 1931, in Dallas, Oregon. Sam was a teacher in San Jose until his retirement in 1990. At that time Sam and his wife, Ruby, moved to Murphys where he has enjoyed being involved in many activities including serving at the Chapel in the Pines; participating in SIRS, Do Wooders, and Links Fellowship. ....

San Andreas, CA...San Andreas resident Betsey Metzger died Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 at Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital in San Andreas. She was 88. Mrs. Metzger was born May 28, 1922, in San Francisco to Ralph and Rachel Hoffman. In 1925, her family moved to Potrerillos, Chile, where her father was a copper mining engineer. After young Betsey Hoffman graduated eighth grade in Chile, her parents sent her to live with relatives to continue her education. She attended University High School in Oakland, and then the University of California, Berkeley, where she joined Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and studied international relations...
