Actor Luke Perry Passes Away at 52 after Massive Stroke |

Sherman Oaks, CA...Coy Luther "Luke" Perry III (October 11, 1966 – March 4, 2019) was an American actor. He was known for playing Dylan McKay on the TV series Beverly Hills, 90210 from 1990 to 1995, and again from 1998 to 2000. He also starred as Fred Andrews on the CW series Riverdale. On February 27, 2019, Perry suffered a major stroke at his home in Sherman Oaks, California. Five days later, on March 4, 2019, Perry passed away due to complications of his stroke. He was 52 years of age.

John R. George, Jr. 1960 - 2019 |

Mountain Ranch, CA...We mourn the death of a local hero, John R. George, Jr. John was born on January 13th, 1960 in Apollo Pennsylvania, he was 59. He called Mountain Ranch his home since 2004. John passed away at home of a massive heart attack in the presents of his wife Barbara, first responders and friend Erik Kolbeck. John was educated in Southern California and graduated from Huntington Beach High School two years ahead of his class. He continued his education at Diablo Valley College and Los Medanos college earning a Master Mechanic’s Certificate. John served in the USMC from 1980 – 1986. During his life, John worked in a variety of trades, from mechanic, concrete, home demolition work, but being a mechanic was his life from the time he was a teenager until mid-life.

Angels Camp, CA...Sylvia Ann Helling, age 78, was born Sept. 4, 1940 in Oklahoma City, OK, and passed away Feb. 22, 2019 in Sonora, CA. Sylvia resided on Meachum Ranch rd. in Angels Camp and was a Calaveras County resident since 1975. She worked as a bus driver for the Calaveras Unified School District in the late 70’s to early 90’s.

Michael (Mike) Scott 1939 - 2019 |

Spokane WA...Michael (Mike) Scott passed away on February 14, 2019, in Spokane, Washington, surrounded by loved ones. Mike had a big, kind heart and made friends everywhere he went. He will be missed by all who knew him. Mike was born on March 7, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois, and was the youngest child of Wilfred Scott and Mildred (Gorrell) Scott, and had an older sister, Shirley (Scott) Beebe. Their family moved to California when he was five years old. He excelled in woodshop and played both football and basketball in high school. After graduating from Portola High School, Mike continued his education at Chico State University. He joined the Army for 3 years and served in Korea after the war, and then returned to college and graduated from San Jose State University in 1965.

(Updated) 22 Year Old Nelson A. Valdez from Lodi Lost His Life in New Priest Grade Collision |

Groveland, CA...On 02-19-2019 at approximately 1441 hours, CHP Officers were notified by a citizen of a possible vehicle over the side of State Route 120, east of Grizzly Creek. CHP Officers arrived in the area, and after an extensive search, located a 2003 Honda Accord, approximately 200 feet down the embankment. The Honda had suffered major collision damage. The vehicle was registered to a reported missing person out of the city of Lodi. While continuing to search the area, CHP Officers located the body of a deceased male nearby. The identity of the deceased male has not been confirmed. The collision is still under investigation and it appears that the seatbelt as not worn. The identity is pending confirmation and notifications. (Update)...Nelson A. Valdez the registered owner of the vehicle was reported missing on January 24. A local Groveland resident out on a hike, saw what he believed was a car down the embankment. Using binoculars, he noticed the vehicle was a newer model and notified CHP. It is unknown when the collision occurred.

San Andreas, CA...Marshall Lloyd Dragomanovich born July 28, 1937 and passed away January 27, 2019 at the age of 82 peacefully in his home. Marshall was born in Stockton CA and resided in San Andreas for the majority of his life. Marshall attended Calaveras High School where he was a star varsity football player, scoring 128 points in his senior year. Marshall then attended UOP in Stockton as a football player and met his wife Sandra at an A&W where she was a car hop. Marshall married Sandra in September of 1957 and soon moved to San Andreas. In 1958 they welcomed their first son, Glenn Lloyd to the family. In 1959 they announced the birth of their second son, Robert Marshall.

Vehicles vs Pedestrian Collision on Hwy 108 Takes Life of Sonora Woman |

Sonora, CA...21 year old Sonora resident, Timothy Hollis, was traveling eastbound SR-108 east of Stockton Road at approximately 50 mph, in a 2016 Chyrsler 200. 28 year old Chinese Camp resident, Glenn Gray, was traveling westbound SR-108 east of Stockton Road at approximately 50 mph, in a 2018 Ford F-350. A 36 year old female pedestrian from Sonora was on the south shoulder of SR-108. The pedestrian ran from the shoulder into the eastbound lane in an attempt to cross SR-108.

San Andreas, CA...Robert J. “Bob” Geiszler, a long-time resident of San Andreas, died peacefully January 27, 2019 with his family by his side. He was 83-years-old. Born February 28, 1935 to Johanna and Ted Geiszler near Ashley, North Dakota, the family moved to Lodi, CA when Bob was 6-years-old. He graduated from Lodi High School in 1953 and attended Wartburg College in Waverly, IA where he met his sweetheart and future wife, Marjie. After college graduation in 1957, Bob volunteered and served two years in the U.S. Army. He married Marjorie Clark in Ripon, WI in 1959. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 31st.

Mountain Ranch, CA...William Warren Schmiett Born Nov. 24, 1952—died Dec. 11, 2018. Bill made 66 trips around the sun. A native Californian, Bill was born in Griffith Park in Los Angeles County, and later moved as a young child with his family to Sunnyvale, CA. Bill spent most of his adult life in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Calaveras County. He and his wife moved full time to Mountain Ranch in 2001, were burnt out during the Butte Fire in 2015, and relocated to Mokelumne Hill in 2017. After travelling to Mexico over several years, Bill became enamored with the Mexican people and culture, as well as becoming fluent in Spanish. Bill was creating a lovely retreat home for himself and his wife in El Pescadero, BCS Mexico.
