Davis J. Factor From Carmel Valley Passes From Injuries Sustained in Eagle Meadows Collision |

Eagle Meadows, CA...On September 3, 2017 at approximately 2:30 pm, 66 year old Carmel Valley resident, Christine Factor was driving a 2011 Lexus GX460, westbound on State Route 108 west of Forest Route 6N24, Eagle Meadows, at approximately 50-55 MPH. For unknown reasons, Christine Factor allowed her vehicle to veer to the right and travel off of the right road edge. Subsequently, the front end of the Lexus struck a large tree.

Angels Camp, CA...Richard Rudolph Richina, 89, of Angels Camp, Ca., passed away August 27, 2017 of natural causes. He was born January 12, 1928 in Manteca, Ca. to Albert James and Rhobia Belle Richina. He received his bachelors and masters degree in Agriculture from California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. He also attended University of Pacific, Stockton, Ca. and California State University, Stanislaus, in Turlock, Ca.

West Point, CA...Robert P. Carpenter Passed away on Aug. 22nd. 2017 at the age of 86. Born in Waterford, Ca. His first wife was Nancee, Second wife is Janice, they were married for 31yrs. Loving father to Jill Weichert and Kevin Carpenter, grandfather to Jared, Caleb Weicherd, Emilie Rotans and Nancee Carpenter. Great grandfather to 8 grandchildren.

Angels Camp, CA...With a heavy heart, the family of Zachary Thomas Peterson announce his unexpected passing on 8/27/2017. 4/13/2001 – 8/27/2017 At 16 years old, Zachary was a student at Bret Harte High School where he just started his junior year. A child of Bear Valley, CA, he lived there for seven years until his family moved down the hill to the Murphys/Angels Camp area. Preceded in death by his father, Gregory Peterson, Zach’s love of music and cars kept him connected to the spirit and memory of his father. He possessed his father’s kindness and generosity that allowed him to connect with anyone he spent time with.

West Point, CA...David Daniel Ramey passed away from a short battle with cancer on 8/11/17 surrounded by family. Born in Castro Valley CA to Monford and Betty Ramey on 6/3/58. David was in the Army from 1976-1979 where he was stationed in Germany. After the Army David worked at Glass Containers and Foodmaker in Hayward CA. He was married and had a daughter Ashley in 1991 that is the light of his life. David decided to move to Sulphur in 2010 to spend time with his Dad and the rest of the Ramey family. While in OK he worked at various labor jobs and a few years at Carbonex. He loved to draw, read and learn about American history with the gold rush era being his favorite. When David was diagnosed with Cancer he returned home to spend time with his family in California.

Sacramento Sheriff's Deputy Robert French Killed & Two CHP Officers Shot Today |

Sacramento, CA...This morning while working a stolen vehicle case that started at a Sacramento area hotel. Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy Robert French and two CHP Officers were shot. The suspect reportedly fired shots through the hotel room door before fleeing the scene and leading officers on a chase. From the CHP..."Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, family, and friends of Deputy Robert French who was killed in the line of duty today. We ask that you keep the two CHP officers that were shot during this incident in your thoughts. In these times of tragedy, we appreciate the outpouring of support that the community provides to law enforcement."

Valley Springs, CA...We, the sons and daughters of Vienna Claudette Green, with heavy hearts announce the passing of our beloved mother. Mom passed peacefully in her home near Valley Springs on August 23, 2017. She was 76 years old. Our mother, Vienna, is predeceased by her mother, Gertrude Tetrault Gouger, her father, Joseph Gouger, and her husband, Bill Green (but we just called him Dad).

Valley Springs, CA....Valley Springs resident and elementary school teacher Rochelle Aline Pena passed away from peritoneal cancer at the age of 59 on August 25, 2017. She was born in San Francisco, CA on January 18, 1958. Rochelle graduated from Bret Harte high school before going on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in education and a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition from San Jose State University. She and Rey treasured 35 wonderful years together after marrying on November 21, 1981.

US Navy Recovers Remaining USS John S. McCain Sailors aboard Ship |

CHANGI NAVAL BASE, Republic of Singapore (NNS) -- U.S. Navy and Marine Corps divers have now recovered the remains of all 10 USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) Sailors.
CHANGI NAVAL BASE, REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE (August 21, 2017) Damage to the portside is visible as the guided-missile destroyer USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) steers towards Changi Naval Base, Republic of Singapore, following a collision with the merchant vessel Alnic MC while underway east of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore. Significant damage to the hull resulted in flooding to nearby compartments, including crew berthing, machinery, and communications rooms. Damage control efforts by the crew halted further flooding. Veteran & Software Engineer Derrell Pulis Has Passed Away |

Murphys, CA...We say goodbye to a member of our community. Derrell Pulis passed away 8/8/17 at home from complications related to Parkinson Disease, developed from his years of Military Service in Vietnam. Derrell retired Lt. Colonel from the Air Force after 20 years of service. Derrell spent a good part of his service as a navigator and finished his career as a financial officer at Travis Air Force Base.
