Rail Road Flat, CA...Mary was born in Copper Lake, Nova Scotia, near Loch Haber and Antigonish, to the late Jessie (Sears) and James MacPherson. She was pre-deceased by brother John William Bernard MacPherson, close cousins John Lawrence, Andy, Herb, George & Neal Sears, step-brother Richard Brine, brother-& sister-in-law Eddie & Jackie Taylor, sister-and brother-in-law Eva & Mark Polz, and beloved husband of over 60 years, Tommy Taylor.

Missing Person Shannon David Scott’s Vehicle Located |

San Andreas, CA...On August 29, 2018 at about 11:00am Mr. Scott reportedly departed for a medical appointment at the Sacramento Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. It was reported that he left the area of Wilseyville (Calaveras County). His appointment was scheduled for 1:30pm, however, Mr. Scott did not arrive to his appointment. He was scheduled to return to Wilseyville on August 29, 2018. Mr. Scott was reported missing by a family member on August 31, 2018 at about 10:30am.

Angels Camp, CA...Thomas A. Gilbeau, born July 2, 1951 in Lodi, CA passed away on April 4, 2019 in Sonora, CA, he was 67 yrs old. Tom was born to Frank Gilbeau and Ruth Sifers where he grew up on a ranch in Circle 20. He attended San Andreas Elementary, graduated from Calaveras High in 1969 and attended college in Modesto. Tom was a Contractor for 30 years until he had a stroke in 2009.

Mearl Lucken 1933 - 2019 |

Murphys, CA...Mearl was born on July 10, in 1933 in Modesto, California to George and Elsie Lucken. He grew up in Manteca, California where George was the Vice Mayor and ran a successful insurance business. On Tuesday, March 26, 2019, Mearl Lucken passed away at the age of 85. He attended Manteca High School, San Jose State University and then entered the United States Air Force. Sports was a passion and he had a great urge to become a sports broadcaster having lettered in five sports in high school, so after leaving the Air Force he returned to Stockton and became….a State Farm Insurance Agent, just like his father before him!! On April 4, 1953 he married his high school sweetheart, Wilma Jewel Strait. They raised three daughters, Neva, Sue, Arlene, and a son, Doug. Mearl has 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Carmen Romona Giuffra has Passed Away at 78 |

San Andreas, CA...Carmen Romona Giuffra, 78, peacefully passed in to the Gates of Heaven with her children by her side on March 17 2019 in San Andreas. Carmen married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Gerald, in 1959 and they went on to have two loving children. Carmen lived in Calaveras County for 50 years where she worked at Mark Twain Hospital for 33 years: In 2008 the Hospital recognized her hard work by naming the kitchen and cafeteria "Carmen's Cafe". Carmen retired in 2010 to enjoy time with her family. Carmen's love for cooking and family made every occasion special.

Valley Springs, CA...Marjorie (Marge) Quigel age 64, was granted her angel wings as her work was done here and she was called to home on March 3rd, 2019. Born February 10th, 1955 in Grand Rapids Michigan to Edward and Carol Moore. Marge moved to California in 1999 and married her soulmate Daren Quigel. She most recently resided in Valley Springs California. She was a Reiki Master and spiritual leader with the ability to connect with the people that needed her the most.

Elk Grove, CA...Bonnie Joanne Rasmussen Went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. Born on July 11, 1945 in Los Angeles, CA to Joe & Shirley Kiley, she made an impact everywhere she landed: San Andreas, Bear Valley, or Elk Grove, CA. Bonnie is survived by her two daughters Denise and Krista (husband Phil), along with her brothers Joe and Mike, and a large extended family. Bonnie was a business owner and integral in multiple businesses including Mt. Reba ski area and ServiceMaster in Sacramento.

Fatal Industrial Accident Outside of Mokelumne Hill |

Mokelumne Hill, CA...On 3-18-2019 at approximately 1020hrs the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office received a report and responded to an industrial accident in a rural area outside of Mokelumne Hill. The industrial accident involved a county employee who was working in the area. The reporting party advised that a subject working in the area had been seriously injured.

Lane Change Takes Life of Ceres Resident Joshua Cody Boykin on Hwy 120 (Updated) |

Jamestown, CA...On March 13, 2019 at approximately 6:25 pm, 25 year old Turlock resident, Jeffery Smith, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling westbound on State Route 120 west of O’Byrnes Ferry Road at approximately 50-55 mph, in a line of vehicles. A 45 year old Ceres resident Joshua Cody Boykin was riding a 2016 Yamaha R1 motorcycle traveling approximately 50-55 mph, a few vehicles to the rear of Smith’s Tahoe. After eastbound traffic passed, the 45 year old rider moved his motorcycle into the eastbound lane and began to pass slower moving vehicles in front of him. As the motorcycle was pulling alongside the Tahoe, Smith moved to the left and began to enter the eastbound lane. Smith’s Tahoe struck the motorcycle, causing the Yamaha to travel to the left, across the eastbound lane and onto the shoulder.
