14th Annual Trout Fishing Derby at White Pines Lake on Fathers Day, June 15th |

White Pines, CA....Sign-ups have started for the 14th Annual Trout Derby at White Pines Lake near Arnold. Open to all, there are 4 age groups plus a two-person team event. Kids 12 and under are free and there is a low $5.00 entry fee for all others. All the entry fees are used to buy trophy sized Trout, which are planted in the lake the night before the derby. Many happy anglers have caught the trout of a lifetime due to this event and new lake records have been established......

Murphys, CA.....A dozen volunteers gathered in Murphys Community Park this morning, Monday June 2nd, to erect five telephone poles that will support a series of shade sails being installed to provide cover from the hot summer sun for youngsters playing on the park’s climbing and sliding apparatus......

Calaveras County, CA....The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will have one-way traffic control on State Route 4 from Cedar Lane to Country Club Drive in Calaveras County. Work will begin on Monday, June 2, 2008, through Friday, June 6, 2008, from 7:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Crews will be relocating underground utilities.......

Murphys, CA....The 2008 Ironstone Summer Concert Series season opener is Sheryl Crow and the Los Lonely Boys on Friday June 13th. Doors open at 7pm. Ironstone Amphitheatre at Ironstone Vineyards is located at 1894 Six Mile Road in Murphys. "We are very excited to start our 2008 Season with 9-time Grammy Winner Sheryl Crow and we are particularly pleased that the show includes the return of Los Lonely boys to Ironstone. First, thank you to the intrepid residents of Millwoods who came out on May 24th to walk in the rain for an hour to study where the Arnold Rim Trail could eventually be potentially accessed from near your homeowners association if you so choose. The rain could not put a damper on the spirits of those who participated or on the beauty of the forest......
