To Our Arnold Friends On Bear Incident In Arnold This Morning |
Posted by: thepinetree on 07/18/2014 06:03 PM

Arnold, CA....This morning a big bear was struck on Hwy 4 about 200 yards into the passing lane before Arnold. The bear rolled into a ravine on the north side. We watched her for a while and she recovered. Then we heard something like goats from the south side of Hwy 4. There were 2 cubs treed. With the help of my neighbors, we shut down the Hwy for perhaps 90 seconds and reunited the family. I want to thank people for caring ..Doug Dryer |

Sacramento, Ca — The American Red Cross Capital Region is targeting “high-risk” communities to raise fire safety awareness and reduce fire risks. This Sunday, local Red Cross volunteers will begin an effort to educate and inform community members in Calaveras County about the dangers of home and wildfires and what they can do to prepare and reduce their risks. “Home fires are by far the most common disaster across the country, so it is critical that everyone take steps to prepare and help prevent these tragedies,” said Kathleen Weis, Chief Executive Officer of the Red Cross Capital Region. “Building awareness and taking action is key to reducing the number of fire incidents in our communities.” Working with local fire and law enforcement agencies, Red Cross volunteers will go door-to-door, canvassing local neighborhoods considered “high-risk” for fire emergencies, providing information directly to residents that will help them to prepare and protect themselves, their families, and their homes from the threat of home and wildfires...

|
Bear Valley, CA....Membership Sales - 103% as of 7:00pm on 7/15! July 15th, 2014. We have been busily processing applications for memberships and as of 7:00pm today (July 15th) we have processed enough membership registrations to pass the 100% mark....and more are still coming in! That is a REALLY good thing because we are not done at 100%...we still need to sell memberships to build up enough capital to make improvements on the mountain in time for the winter season! Great work and thanks to all that helped make this all possible!
