The sun rose, communion was served, and Pastor Dave shared an Easter message about hope and trusting God not just in the mountain-top experiences, but also when we stumble and fall on the mountain and when we come off the mountain. Arnold, CA...Pete Ochs (1948-2009) passed away at his home on Friday April 3rd. He will be greatly missed by all of us at Big Trees Market. His infectious laugh, gregarious personality, not to mention his many years of produce experience and expertise will be all but impossible to replace. Pete was one of kind and his passing has left a huge void in the Big Trees family. He will be fondly remembered by all of us. Lifetime Avery Resident, Marcelle Avery, Has Passed Away

Marcelle Avery passed away on Sunday April 5, 2009 at the age of 97 years old. She was born on February 18, 1912 to Morton and Louise Avery. She was raised at the Avery Hotel, which her parents operated during her childhood. She attended Avery Elementary School. Marcelle had an active childhood and was especially fond of horses, as she owned her first horse at the age of eight. Altercation Interrupts Calaveras/Bret Harte Soccer Game This Evening ~By John Hamilton

Angels Camp, CA....An unidentified male, who appeared to be under the influence, started an altercation at this evening's girls soccer game held at Bret Harte field. The adult male appeared to be heading for the coaching bench when he was intercepted and controlled by several members of the community. He struggled with them for 5-10 minutes until Angels Camp Police arrived and was later taken into custody.

Angels Camp, CA...There is a Student Driven Renaissance program quickly spreading through the Bret Harte Campus. It has been spearheaded by Codi Mills and Kaylee Huey. The program celebrates academic achievement in a fun, peer encouraged way. The program is open for any student with a 2.5 and above GPA. When we stopped by on Friday Bret Harte already had that Renaissance Feel with students wearing some great looking Renaissance TShirts.

Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation Commits to funding of Digital Mammography

San Andreas, CA...The Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation recently made the commitment to fund a digital mammography system for the Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital in San Andreas. The digital mammography project, including necessary construction and permitting, is estimated at $840,000. The system, which provides superior detection of breast cancer in women under the age of 50, is expected to be operational this year....
