The Dorrington Hotel Announces the Unveiling of the Newly Renovated Hotel Along with A New Executive Chef....Daniel Quint!

Dorrington, CA.....If you haven’t taken a ride “up the hill” in awhile it’s about time that you did. A short 2½ miles past the Calaveras Big Trees State Park, a short 6 miles past Arnold and 16 miles from Murphys is the town of Dorrington. Dorrington was named for Rebekah Dorrington Gardner who was married to John Gardner. Their beloved granddaughter was Reba Blood, which Mt. Reba was named after. The Dorrington Hotel was also their home and was a stop on the Big Trees Carson Valley Road and was also a depot for the stockmen and a summer resort. ....

Lake Alpine has been better fishing due to the recent trout plants. Trollers should try Apex, Needlefish, and Rapala's behind a small dodger tipped with a nightcrawler or try a flasher/nightcrawler combo. Fly fishermen should try woolly buggers, flying ants,nymphs, and sparrow nymphs. Bank fishermen should try nightcrawlers, Gulp Power Eggs, Gulp Power Bait, Gulp Nightcrawlers, floating Power Eggs,and salmon eggs. Lure casters should try Kastmasters, Panther Martin spinners, and Rooster Tails.....

Arnold, CA...The “Chicks” were at it again this weekend! This time they brought their famous barbeque to Sequoia Woods Country Club, and the sold-out crowd had a great time. The Tipsy Chicks are the four local women – Sheryl Holshevnikoff, Jane McKeever, Bev Ravazza, and Kelly Russell – who won the “Viewer’s Choice Award” at the Second Annual Ironstone BBQ....

Arnold Home A Total Loss Due to Structure Fire on Friday Evening....CAL Fire Report Enclosed

Arnold, CA....There was a structure fire at 119 Water Wheel in Arnold in Mill Woods that completely engulfed a home at Friday evening. The home was a complete loss. There was a minor spread to neighboring parcel. There were three people home when the fire broke out. They were able to save some of their personal belongings such as their vehicles that were in the garage. Cause is under investigation. More to come when we receive official CAL Fire report. Cal Fire Enclosed....
