Jenny Lind, CA...Supervisor Russ Thomas played host and invited County Assessor Grant W. Metzger, Jr. and Leslie Davis, Assistant Assessor to address the public on if the declining home values can also lower your tax bill. Last night's meeting was held at the Jenny Lind Firehouse. The Assessor's office has already sent out 5,500 notices to county property owners who have had a value decline. If you have not received a notice then at least according to the county your property values have not dropped....

Calaveras County, CA....The Painted Frogs of Calaveras is a Community Art Project sponsored by the Calaveras Chamber of Commerce. has a Fun Contest planned beginning on September 27th and and ending October 20th. Print the "Class of 2008" FROG MAP WE HAVE ENCLOSED and pay a visit to each frog site. Your map will be stamped at the site with a "frog". When you have finished visiting all of the Frog sites, drop off your map at the Calaveras Chamber of Commerce, attention Diane, no later than October 21st, with your name and phone # filled out. We will then hold a drawing for some FABULOUS PRIZES donated so generously by local businesses.... including Two Tickets to the Gala Auction, Kayak rentals from SNAC, A Free Zip Line adventure from Cave and Mine Adventures, CAMPS Dinner Gift Certificate, Golf for Foursome at Greenhorn Creek Golf Resort, Local Wines, Gift Certificates, Gift Baskets and More! The drawings will be held on October 20th. Arnold, CA...This morning it became truly Official. New Ebbetts Pass Fire Protection District Chief David H. Baugher was presented his official Badge during a special ceremony at the Main EPFD Station in Arnold. Chief Baugher has big shoes to fill. The Chief's position was held for many, many years by Warren Wilkes. Under Chief Wilkes EPFD grew to be the premier fire & EMS protection district in the entire county. Many of the other districts in the county look to EPFD as the model agency to emulate. From all of us at we would like to congratulate Chief Baugher and we wish him years of success...

Bear Valley Future Plans Take Center Stage...Bear Valley Mountain Resort Expanding to Almost 1,800 acres~Video of Presentation Enclosed~By John Hamilton

Bear Valley, CA....BVMR and the Stanislaus National Forest held a scoping meeting this last weekend to unveil and get feedback on their plans for improvements to the resort. For those who have been following this process this is the USFS accepted plan that follows on the heels of the draft plans made public in April of this year. They will be accepting comments on these plans until Sept 19, 2008. The specifics are almost identical to the April plans. The high points: A new High Speed Quad Village Lift, A new 10,000 square foot lodge at Bear Top, Another High Speed Quad to replace Super Cup, Ski-able Acreage to increase from 1,150 to 1,750 with the addition of the new " East Bowl" to be served by the Village Lift....

Arnold, CA....The Annual Flea Market Extravaganza was another weekend filled with wall to wall bargains to benefit the Independence Hall in Arnold. This is their largest fund-raiser of the year for the Hall. The Independence Hall is the focal point in Arnold for Community Meetings, Voting, Community Events and more. "Yesterday....A Tribute to the Beatles" Packed the Tent with Video Enclosed!

Bear Valley, CA....The BVMF tent was rocking on Friday Night. The venue was close to a sell out. If you closed your eyes or even with you eyes open you were taken back 40 years to the hight of the British Invasion. It was John, Paul, George & Ringo all over again. "Yesterday" is a World Renowned Beatles Tribute Group that plays regularly in Tahoe, Las Vegas, Atlantic City and many more locations. Their act not only sounded like the Beatles it Looked like the Beatles as well complete with costume changes. It even appeared that they used vintage era equipment to maintain an authentic sound. It was a great the video enclosed it starts off with the "Early Years" and then moves to the "Later Years." We have lots of video enclosed...

Lake Alpine has been tough fishing due to the recent heat. The fish have moved to deeper water. Trollers should try Apex, Needlefish, and Rapala's behind a small dodger tipped with a nightcrawler or try a flasher/nightcrawler combo. Fly fishermen should try woolly buggers, flying ants,nymphs, and sparrow nymphs. Bank fishermen should try nightcrawlers, Gulp Power Eggs, Gulp Power Bait, Gulp Nightcrawlers, floating Power Eggs,and salmon eggs. Lure casters should try Kastmasters, Panther Martin spinners, and Rooster Tails....
