Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! 30" of new snow overnight and well..........it's epic! 115" for the storm total, 183" in 2 weeks, 279" for the season and 153" for our current base. We are closed today to recover from the copious amounts of snow yet our Mtn Ops teams are here and working hard for you so we can reopen for Tuesday January 24th 2017. Today's high is expected to be around 23F with SSW winds from 5-9 mph. We could pick up another 2-4" today before the system makes it's way East and gives way to High pressure arriving tomorrow and clear skies for the next 4-5 days. We're still assessing the Lwr mtn for Avalanche hazards which remain at 4 High currently but patience is the key here. Until then copious amounts of quality riding is to be had on the frontside/backside and village sides of our Mtn. Stay safe, ride with a friend and be aware of deep tree wells as they are abundant inbounds and in the soft boundaries. Come on up and check out our local "Pure Mtn Fun" ethos and stay tuned..........

Arnold, CA...We would like to thank Don Shinn for the picture and also to remind those in the Arnold area that the Murphys Drive crossing is out over Moran Creek. There are a few different options over the creek back up towards Sequoia Woods but looks like repairs on this crossing will be awhile...
Sunday Morning Power Outage Update....Much Progress Made But Many Still Or Newly In Dark
Posted by: thepinetree on 01/22/2017 09:36 AM
Arnold, CA...The numbers are falling but it was another cold and dark night for many in our area. Many of these outages are new or variations from yesterday. Winds overnight brought down more trees and limbs into power lines and service drops to houses. Interestingly the total number of repair instances seems about the same or higher but the total number in the dark is dropping so they are making good progress. Another observation yesterday when we were out and about is that it didn't seem to be beetle kill trees but green living trees that were carrying a full foliage load to carry snow and hence weight. Our hats off the the crews that are working in abysmal and dangerous conditions. To make it a bit easier to read the list is below the graphic.

Hey Good People!! 71 Inches From This Storm System & More To Fall!! ~ Mattly Trent
Posted by: thepinetree on 01/22/2017 01:53 PM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! 6" of new snow fell overnight as of 5am and winds are starting to pick up. We could see another 11-17" fall during the day today and winds are expected to increase this morning to around 24-34mph with some gusts to 50mph. The bulk of heavier winds will take place mostly in the am hours as the low pressure pushes onshore and warming convection from the days sunrise etc. By noon the winds should start to decrease somewhat as the system pushes farther East. Another 10-14" is expected to fall tonight and 2-4" is slated for Monday as the system presses East and comes to a close by late Monday night/early Tuesday morning. We're still assessing the Lwr mtn for Avalanche hazards which remain at a 4 High currently but patience is the key here. With the storm intensifying today it will remain closed.
