Calaveras County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform a moving closure on eastbound and westbound State Route 4 from Lakemont Drive near Arnold to the Alpine/Calaveras County line for striping operations. Work will occur beginning Monday, April 24, 2017, through Wednesday, April 26, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Also, one-way traffic control will occur on SR-4 from Upper Moran Road to Big Trees Park for drainage work beginning Monday, April 24, 2017, through Friday, April 28, 2017, from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

This quote seemed appropriate because since buying the store in January, many people have come in and met me, and many have said this; "This place is a Goldmine" I was always polite, and never disagreed even once. However, what I didn't realize is that they were not talking about Gold that is connected to money, they were talking about Gold that is connected to the Heart. So many people have shared their stories about the old days at Camp Connell, how they spent their youth there, and some of the great times they have had in the "Backyard".

People can drop off old household & rechargeable batteries at following locations: (there will be buckets available for drop off if no one is present) St. Ignatius Church , Poker Flat Community Center, Sunday,April 23 @ 8 a.m. St. Patrick's Church, 820 South Main Street, April 22 & 23 St. Patrick's Church, 621 Sheep Ranch Road, Murphys, April 22 @ 5 p.m. & 23 @ 8 a.m. Our Lady of the Sierra, 1301 Linebaugh Road, Arnold April 22 3-5 5p.m, April 23 9-11 a.m. We cannot accept car batteries. So far we have kept over 10,000 batteries out of our landfills.

Murphys, CA...The Calaveras County Tree Mortality Task Force will be giving away tree seedlings on Sunday April 23, 2017 from 11am to 4pm at Sierra Hill Market in Murphy’s for those affected by “Bark Beetle Killed Trees” within Calaveras County. The seedlings have been generously donated by Sierra Pacific Industries. Species to be given away include: Ponderosa Pine, Sugar Pine, Douglas Fir and Cedar
