Arnold, CA...Our Pa, Wilmer Delbert Koeppen, passed away on January 4th, 2017 at the age of 96. He was born in Nebraska to a farming family. They moved to Idaho during the Dustbowl and Depression era. He was a World War II Veteran who was a gunner for the U.S. Navy. He delivered milk to homes for Borden’s many years in San Francisco. He also was a retired city worker for the city of South San Francisco where he was a printer. A resident of Arnold, he spent his spare time fishing, exploring the area, gathering wood and puttering around the house. He was most proud of his role as a father, grandfather and a great grandfather. When his grandchildren were young, he could always be found in the cheering section of their sports.

Bear Valley Set To Reopen Tomorrow For Monster MLK Weekend
Posted by: thepinetree on 01/12/2017 09:18 AM
Bear Valley, CA...From Bear Valley Mountain..."Most of the current staff (some nearly 30 years) cannot recall experiencing anything close to this unprecedented weather event, beginning last Sunday with rain, that has now delivered over 60 inches of snow in the past few days, high winds, extremely dangerous avalanche conditions; and it continues to snow at this time. As a result we WILL NOT OPEN ON THURSDAY JANUARY 12, 2017. We do believe that by late Thursday we’ll be looking at partly cloudy skies, and snow removal and management efforts, prep on the mountain will produce a readiness to deliver a safe reopening of lifts and terrain this Friday.
