Board of Supes Are Back in Action Tuesday Morning!

San Andreas, CA....The Board of Supes are holding their weekly meeting on Tuesday morning at 9am. Some of the agenda items being discussed are a Minute Order at 9:10am authorizing the Board Chair to execute an agreement between the County of Calaveras and the Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) for the acceptance of grant funding in the amount of $46,000.00 for the Calaveras County Conservation Planning Project integrating Habitat and Open Space Protection into the County General Plan Update Phase I; Planning fees; Full agenda enclosed....

Mokelumne Hill, CA...Candidates Night for District 2 was held last night at Mokelumne Hill Town Hall Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and The Calaveras Enterprise. This evening it was Incumbent Steve Wilensky and new candidate John Morse. There were some tough questions asked, but both candidates did well. Some of the questions included Economic Development, County Roads, the $7,000 contribution to John Morse, Are you for a "Big Box?", the Government Center and more....

District I Candidates Night in San Andreas with Full Video~By John Hamilton

San Andreas, CA...Last night the San Andreas Town Hall played host to another Chamber of Commerce & Calaveras Enterprise Calaveras County Supervisor Candidate's Night. This is a race to replace retiring incumbent Supervisor Bill Claudino. The Challengers are Gary Tofanelli, Zerrall McDaniel & Kathy Mazzaffero. It was serious & lighthearted look at todays issues. In addition to the questions you would expect about the State of the County, Economic Development and what they would do to fix X, Y or Z. There was also a tough "What Can I Do About The Pigs In My Neighbor's Yard Question". It was a very well run and moderated event. The Chamber of Commerce handled many of the nuts & bolts portions of the night and Calaveras Enterprise Editor Buzz Eggleston provided the moderation. Our video starts....

Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise Candidates Night for District 4 Packs the House!

Murphys, CA....Native Sons Hall of Murphys was the place to be tonight for the Supervisor Candidates District 4 Night. The Hall was packed with community members trying to decide who they want representing them in their District. Present were Tom Tryon, Lee Seaton, Sarah Lunsford and Ron Klass. This event event was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the Calaveras Enterprise. Each Candidate was asked questions by Moderator, Buzz Eggleston, Editor of the Calaveras Enterprise. The audience also participated in questions for the hopeful candidates. The evening started at 6:30pm and ran until about 8:30pm. The next Candidates Night will be held on Wednesday May 7th at 6:30pm at San Andreas Town Hall for District I Supervisor. Present will be Zerrall McDaniel, Gary Toffanelli and Kathy Mazzaferro. As we get closer to election day the candidates are starting to define their positions in clearer terms. We will be posting some excerpt clips of some of the sharper exchanges in a separate piece. Calaveras County, CA...There are four more Candidates Nights for your enjoyment coming up next week. The first will be District 4 Candidates held on May 5 at 6:30pm at the Native Sons Hall in Murphys. Lee Seaton, Tom Tryon, Sarah Lunsford and Ron Klass will all be present to respond to questions asked by the moderator and also the audience. The 2nd will be District I on May 7th at 6:30pm at San Andreas Town Hall. Candidates Zarrell McDaniel, Gary Tofanelli and Kathy Mazzeferro will be present. The Candidates Night will feature District 1 hopefuls Kathy Mazzaferro, Zerrall McDaniel and Gary Tofanelli. They are vying for the seat on the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors being vacated by Bill Claudino at the end of his four-year term......
