Results of the Closed Session will be made to the public in Press Release form or otherwise if need be. San Andreas, CA...Enclosed is well over an hour of the public comment period at today's board meeting. It was an intense, rough and bumpy ride. The public comment period included many sharp exchanges as was expected. It also had a few "Only in Calaveras" lighthearted moments specifically around poultry. The Board now faces a unified cross section of the business community that would like changes to be made at the CDA. Supervisor Callaway also called for people to be patient while the process takes it course.....

San Andreas, CA....Minimal short term pain, but the longterm outlook is still very much in question. That just about sums up the budget process for 2008/09 so far. The County dipped into it's shrinking rainy day or contingency fund to help the DA's office and Sheriff's department for the next few months. This will hopefully allow for more time to find funding for the what the department heads feel are vital services. If they would have had to follow through with the initially proposed cuts it would have put a severe strain on those departments... Sheriff Dennis Downum & Jeffrey Tuttle, District Attorney
