Sonora, California. Golden State Cellular has added another cell site location in the East Sonora area of Tuolumne County. The site was constructed at a TUD facility located just off Mono Way near the Indian Rock Center. This is the first of three new cell sites to be located at TUD facilities as a result of an agreement signed earlier this year...

Angels Camp, CA...Your local Cell Phone provider Golden State Cellular is offering free cell phone tune ups for all cell phone users in the area. Software upgrades, Battery Checks and even making sure you have everything set for trouble free roaming are just some of the things you can check on. Tune Up Days start at their Martell Store tomorrow and will be held at their Sonora store on July 25 and their new Angels Camp Store on August 1. All three are a combination Tune-Up Day, Customer Appreciation, 15 Year Anniversary Celebration. They will also have a raffle at each event for for a TV, Bar-B-Que and $100 CASH – along with other goodies...

Golden State Cellular Sets Up Temporary Cell Site For Fire Personnel |

Sonora, CA....Golden State Cellular has set up a COW (Cell On Wheels) at the fire camp located at Drew Meadow. The COW is a temporary cell site that is utilized to provide coverage in remote areas without adequate cellular coverage. The camp houses personnel involved with battling the North Mountain fire. According to Summer Moore, Public Information Officer for the USFS, the site is providing excellent coverage and allows for more effective communication to personnel with Golden State, Sprint and Verizon phones. Golden State will maintain the site until full containment is announced....

West Calaveras You Have A New Cell Tower |

Jenny Lind, CA...Golden State Cellular's Marketing Director Darrell Slocum has let us know that their new cell site in the Jenny Lind area in now up and running. This should be great news for residents and those doing business in the greater Valley Springs area. This will also improve roaming coverage for those visiting our area. A quote from one of their Cellular Technicians Matthew Prier. "We have turned up and tested a new site in Jenny Lind, and it is officially on the air and providing service! The site is located at the Calaveras Telephone central office and provides coverage for the town of Jenny Lind, about 2.5 miles south of Rancho Calaveras and Highway 26, on J14."...

ATCAA Wins Five County Technology Planning Grant...First Meeting on June 12th at Ironstone Vineyards |

The Amador Tuolumne Community Action Agency (ATCAA) has secured a $250,000 grant from the California Emerging Technology Fund (CETF) to help five rural Sierra counties improve high speed Internet access for all households and businesses. The one-year project, called ATCAA Central Sierra Connect, will launch with the first meeting of the project Advisory Council in the morning and a community forum at Ironstone Vineyards June 12 from 1-4 pm. The community is invited to come to learn about the project and how they can get involved in the one-year work plan......

Sonora, CA...We have been conducting a long term test of an HTC 6800 Windows Mobile Phone. Not only have we fallen in love with the device it seems it is also making friends among some of the other users we spoke with. It is a true Swiss Army Knife like device. It's a good phone with great reception, a full fledged PDA, it takes good quality pictures, it's small enough that it doesn't feel like you are holding a brick to make a call like some of the early Blackberry's. Local Company Supports Firefighters |

Sonora, California. Golden State Cellular recently presented the City of Angels Camp Fire Department with a check for $500. The check resulted from a program offered to customers allowing them to donate to a Firefighter Fund. Golden State then matched the customer’s contribution .Additional contributions will be made to Firefighting programs in Alpine, Amador, Mariposa and Tuolumne Counties. Gary Burns of the City of Angels (shown below accepting the check) said that the $500 would be used to purchase equipment for their new engine...

Golden State Cellular Will Now Include a Hands Free Device With every Handset or Smartphone They Sell! |

Sonora, CA....Golden State Cellular announced that effective 4/23/08 every device they sell (Handset, PDA/Smartphone) will include an appropriate hands free device in compliance with the new driving laws going in to effect July 1, 2008. The customer will be offered a Bluetooth device such as a headset or car kit however; if they elect not to purchase one then a compliant wired ear piece, suitable for the device, will be included at no charge. According to Golden State General Manager Dan Rule: “We realize many of our customers use their cell phones while driving and we want to keep them legal however; we want to keep them safe as well.”....
