November Meeting Cancelled For Sierra Macintosh User Group

Steve Cox & Paul De Baldo Honored For Their Service To Bret Harte Students

Angels Camp, CA...At their June 20th board meeting, Bret Harte Union High School District board member Gail Bunge presented this year's Parent/Community Volunteer Awards to Steve Cox and Paul De Baldo, both of Copperopolis. Nominated by retiring Agriculture teacher Roy Beck, Cox was recognized for his volunteer work with FFA and the Ag Department. Along with organizing and managing the See's candy fundraiser, Cox has been a regular figure at all of the Ag events, helping with planning, set-up, and clean-up. Cox spoke highly of FFA and how he wanted to give back something in appreciation for all the program has done for his daughter Amanda, a recent BH grad heading up to Chico to major in Agriculture Education.

Murphys, CA...Owners of Apple computer products are encouraged to bring their questions to the next meeting of the Sierra Macintosh Users Group (SMUG) to be held, Tuesday, March 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the community room of the Murphys Library, 480 Park Lane, adjacent to Murphys Park. “All of us, from time to time, run into problems that keep us from making full use of our iMacs, iPads, and iPhones,” says SMUG president Dick Cross. “During the meeting long time SMUG members Norm Milsner and Paul Keeton will attempt to solve these issues and answer all questions.”

Murphys, CA...Getting the most out of your iMac or iPad will be the focus of the next meeting of the Sierra Macintosh Users Group (SMUG) to be held, Tuesday, February 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the community room of the Murphys Library, 480 Park Lane, adjacent to Murphys Park. Norm Milsner, one of the founders of SMUG, and a recognized Apple guru, will be making the presentation and responding to questions. He will be also take his audience for a tour of Pages, Apple’s word processing application. As always, any computer related questions will be encouraged. “Because of where I live, I do not have an iPhone,” says Milsner. “But a lot of our knowledgeable members do have smart phones so we will try to deal with those concerns also.”

Last year he was forced to leave his hometown because of the war that has forced millions of his compatriots out of their country. He left his family and his studies—everything—behind to find a better future in Europe. Now safe in Berlin, his dream is to continue his studies and eventually become a teacher at a university in Germany.
