Free PC Software Top Picks Part 1 of 5 – Anti-Virus Software~By Greg Douglas

Posted by: thepinetree on 05/25/2010 07:52 AM
I have always been a proponent of free PC software (freeware), especially Anti-Virus software. I’ve never liked the notion that you have to pay someone just to protect your PC from the vulnerabilities of Viruses and Spyware. Unfortunately, Anti-Virus software is a life necessity, but it doesn’t have to break the bank for good protection. Most new PC’s do come pre-loaded with some form of Anti-Virus software, but usually these are time limited trial versions that will expire within 30-90 days. Once expired, your PC will once again become vulnerable to new threats as the program will no longer update the virus database until you pay for a subscription. PC manufacturers provide these trial versions in the hope that you....

This Week on "Tech Talk".....Windows 7. Ready, or not?~With Blair Wiley of Wiley Computer Works

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 02/13/2010 04:28 PM
A couple of weeks ago, I read on Comcast.net an article called The Top Ten Things Not To Buy in 2010. Two of the recommendations had to do with computers. Last time, I talked about the first of these two items: backups. The article said not to buy an external hard drive for backups. I agree with this, but it's an oversimplification in a big subject. I covered the pros and cons of many backup techniques, and explained the set of items that I recommend as a way to protect your data from a hard drive crash and other catastrophes.....

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 09/09/2009 10:35 PM
So, your hard drive just crashed. What now? If your thinking you'll just take it to the local PC Repair person and everything will be alright, you may be mistaken. The hard drive is the part of the computer that stores all your important files like that three hundred page manuscript that took the last year to write, family pictures from that once in a lifetime vacation, tax returns and who knows what else. The hard drive is also one of the most likely....
