Posted by: John_Hamilton on 04/25/2012 08:21 AM
Copperoplis Calif. ….My story…My name is Shannon Tower and I am a 17 year old senior at Bret Harte high school. In January of 2011, my family was hit with the news that my older brother has brain cancer. Ever since then I have tried by best to find a way to help others that have been affected by this terrible disease. My Mission…

Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital and Soroptimist Offer FREE CHOLESTEROL TESTS

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 04/23/2012 03:45 PM
San Andreas, CA... As part of a continuing partnership with Soroptimist International of Calaveras County, Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital (MTSJH) is now offering FREE cholesterol tests for women in Calaveras County. “While other health concerns are more prominent in the media, we tend to forget that heart disease is the #1 killer of women over the age of 25,” stated Patti Monczewski, Interim Hospital President. “Working with the Soroptimist, our shared goal is to ensure that every woman in the Calaveras Community has a comprehensive cholesterol test.”....

Respirit – Week 15 “What Does God Expect in Return?” By Catherine Lewallen

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 04/18/2012 07:09 AM
Murphys, CA...I have reached a season that brings back a lot of memories. Almost daily I hear myself saying, “Last year on this day I was…” and the sentence is finished with a frightening or sad experience, like being in the hospital or missing out on some event with my son. This week, I find myself vacationing in the same location I enjoyed last fall. It has been extremely emotional and I feel literally overwhelmed by one question....

“THE AUTISM CHRONICLES” PUTS FACES & VOICES TO THE LITTLE UNDERSTOOD WORLD OF AUTISM

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 04/09/2012 08:58 AM
Murphys, CA...Although the media has been full of articles about autism and the autism spectrum, few people who have not lived with this life-changing condition understand the impact it has on families. “The Autism Chronicles,” which will have its premier performance on Saturday, April 21, at 7 p.m. in the Bret Harte Performing Arts Center, 323 S. Main St., Angels Camp, endeavors to provide insight into what life with autism is like and what a group of dedicated people is doing to ease the burdens...

Respirit – Week 14 “Do I Want to be Free?” By Catherine Lewallen

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 04/04/2012 10:50 AM
Murphys, CA...Some of you may know I have a weakness for art, which, in my book, includes tattoos. I’ve considered getting a cancer ribbon tattooed somewhere on me, but I’ve hesitated because I’m not sure I should have a constant reminder of this disease. But on the other hand, I never go more than a few minutes without thinking about it anyway. When will I ever be free from this cancer? And do I want to be?...

1 in 88 Children has Been Identified with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 03/30/2012 06:48 AM
Atlanta, GA...CDC's National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities has been tracking ASDs for over a decade through the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network. The newest estimates from the ADDM Network are based on data collected in 14 areas of the United States during 2008. These 14 communities comprised over eight percent of the United States population of 8-year-olds in 2008. Information was collected on children who were 8 years old because previous work has shown that, by this age, most children with ASDs have been identified for services....

How Does Your Nutrition Measure Up? Video Interview with Dr. Andreas Sullivan ~By John Hamilton

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 03/30/2012 07:47 AM
Murphys, CA...Last year when we stopped by Dr. Andrea Sullivan's Murphys office she was showing off her new Pharmanex BioPhotonic Scanner. This device uses what is know as Raman Spectroscopy to measure antioxidant levels in living tissue. She convinced me to let her scan my nutrient levels. Not to much of a surprise to me my results were pretty dismal. This was one of the "last straws" for me personally to make some changes in my lifestyle. Dr. Sullivan is using the device as an integral part of her practice. She has a great focus on wellness for her patients. We recorded a video last week with her in her office talking about the scanner and other areas of her practice. Now scanning in not only available in her Main Street Murphys Office but also at Family 4 Fitness and the new Sierra Hills Natural Foods. If you are looking at a measurable way to improve your health we couldn't recommend Dr. Sullivans's services any higher. The interview is below and more about Dr. Sullivan is enclosed..
