Fundraiser Dinner to Benefit Deputy Jeff Whiting & Family On April 4 |

San Andreas, CA....Early February Deputy Jeff Whiting (a healthy 41 year old father and husband) with the Calaveras County Sheriff Department became very ill and was hospitalized via ambulance to Mark Twain Medical Center in San Andreas. He experienced complete respiratory failure and had to be air lifted to Sutter Memorial in Sacramento. It was determined by doctors that Jeff was suffering from the H1N1 virus and and double pneumonia. He was intubated, and in a medically induced coma for 12 days, and spent almost three weeks in the hospital gravely ill. Jeff's wife Rachelle (also with the Sheriff's Department) never left his side and was determined to see him healthy again. Both of them were missing work...

Mark Twain Medical Center Volunteers Donate Funds For New Equipment |

San Andreas, CA....Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) volunteers have donated $9,000 for the purchase a new Radiology CD Burner for patients that have radiology studies performed. “The CD burner is an invaluable tool that allows MTMC to provide outstanding service to our patients, doctors, other hospitals and doctors’ offices,” said Rick Reed, MTMC Radiology Director. “A patient can have a procedure such as a CT scan, MRI or regular x-ray and have a CD made within 10 minutes of their exam completion. The patient can take the CD with them or it can be mailed to their referring physician. Quite often another facility will need a copy of the patient’s exam and the CD burner allows us to burn the exam directly from our Picture Archiving Computer System (PACS).” “For over sixty years MTMC volunteers have worked on various projects that have raised money to support the hospital,” remarked Barbara Galli, MTMC Volunteer. “The volunteers spend over eleven hundred hours a year creating one-of-a -kind handmade items to sell throughout the year at our Christmas Bazaar and during other holidays and events. The funds that we are able to raise are primarily to benefit our adult and high school scholarship program for Calaveras County residents. We all agreed that this was an important project that we could immediately fund for the community.”

| Sonora, CA...Sonora Regional Medical Center’s 18th Annual Golf Classic will be held on Wednesday, June 11 at Saddle Creek Resort in Copperopolis. All proceeds from the tournament go toward funding Sonora Regional Medical Center’s Project HOPE, a free mobile health clinic serving people in the community who typically do not have health insurance. The clinic is available twice a week at the Crossroads Shopping Center in Sonora and once a month at Interfaith.... |

San Anderas, CA...As part of a continuing partnership with Soroptimist International of Calaveras County, Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) will be offering FREE cholesterol tests for women in Calaveras County during American Heart Month in February. “Today, there are many health concerns that are more prominent in the media, we tend to forget that heart disease is the #1 killer of women over the age of 25,” stated Craig Marks, Hospital President. “Partnering with the Soroptimist, our shared goal is to ensure that every woman in the Calaveras Community has a comprehensive cholesterol test. Last year over 500 Calaveras county women benefitted from our FREE Cholesterol screenings.”
