Sacramento, CA...In his first act as California’s 40th Governor, Governor Gavin Newsom announced a series of major, first-in-the-nation executive actions and budget proposals to lower prescription drug and health care costs for all California families and move California closer to the goal of health care for all. Governor Newsom’s health care proposals are a central pillar of his broader “California for All” agenda. As he laid out in his inaugural speech, the Governor believes that the California Dream should be accessible to everyone — not just a privileged few. Over his first year in office, he will work with the Legislature and all levels of government to find bold and innovative solutions to confront the cost and affordability crisis that California families are facing.

Twain Harte Couple Welcome New Year Twins Nova Skye Matthews & Luna Rae Matthews |

Sonora, CA...Kyla Grimes and Lonny Matthews, both of Twain Harte, are the stunned but excited parents of twin girls delivered by unscheduled Cesarean section at Adventist Health Sonora less than an hour into the New Year. Nova Skye Matthews was born at 12:54 a.m. on January 1, 2019, followed three minutes later by Luna Rae Matthews, born at 12:57 a.m. Nova weighed 4 pounds, 9 ounces, and Luna weighed 4 pounds, 9.6 ounces. Born five weeks before their due date, the twins were transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto and placed in the neonatal intensive care unit for follow up care needed because of their premature status.

Judge Reed O'Connor Rules Obamacare Unconstitutional |

Fort Worth, TX...U.S. District Judge Reed O'Connor has ruled that the ACA or Obamacare is unconstitutional. From the Decision..."The Court’s analysis involves three separate inquiries and conclusions. First, the Court finds the Parties satisfy the applicable standing requirements. Second, the Court finds the Individual Mandate can no longer be fairly read as an exercise of Congress’s Tax Power and is still impermissible under the Interstate Commerce Clause—meaning the Individual Mandate is unconstitutional. Third, the Court finds the Individual Mandate is essential to and inseverable from the remainder of the ACA." The link to the full decision is below...
