"Burden Of Freedom" a Full Length, Feature Film on PTSD In Pre-Production Now ~By Rae Davis

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/07/2014 08:24 AM
Murphys, CA...There are 22 suicides per day by our military men and women suffering from PTSD. This statistic far outnumbers our military’s losses in combat each and every day. Even one suicide from what should and can be a treatable condition, is still one too many. Why is this happening and what can be done about it? My name is Rae Davis, and I am a producer with the film, Burden of Freedom. This dramatic, full length feature film follows two Iraq war veterans from the military, to civilian life, only to find that their lives have been changed forever by PTSD. Currently we are in the pre-production phase of our film, and are rapidly gaining the support of current military personnel and of our country’s veterans.

Tobacco Industry Continues to Market to Kids

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/05/2014 11:38 AM
San Andreas, CA – New data released today shows that Calaveras County has more stores that sell candy, mint and liquor flavored tobacco products compared to similar counties and cities in the state. The survey was conducted statewide from July through October 2013 at 7,300 retail stores. The survey also collected data about the availability of unhealthy food items and alcohol sold in convenience, supermarket, liquor, tobacco, small market, discount, drug and big-box stores. Calaveras County findings from the stores surveyed include: Over 83% sell the most popular brand of flavored cigarillos or little cigars
· 52% have unhealthy exterior advertising while only 9% have healthy exterior advertising · Alcopops or flavored alcoholic beverages are available in 100% of stores · Alcohol ads are placed three feet and below or near candy and toys at 74% of stores. This is the first time in California that 58 counties surveyed tobacco, alcohol and unhealthy food items together. The results give us a picture of the challenges adults and youth face when shopping locally....

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/05/2014 12:18 PM
Sacramento, CA...Senator Ted Gaines today announced a lawsuit against Covered California and Executive Director Peter Lee, seeking to stop any future health insurance policy cancellations by the health care Exchange. In addition, the suit seeks to hold Covered California accountable for hundreds of millions in expenditures that have failed to increase the number of insured Californians. “More than 900,000 Californians have had their health insurance plans cancelled by Obamacare and Covered California. Close to 10 million more could lose their coverage soon. This lawsuit stands with consumers and puts a stop to this unchecked government abuse,” said Gaines....

The Marrow Donor drive will take place after 10:30 am when the Nickolay Dodov Slopestyle event sign in is finished. There are many locals helping to stage and plan this drive, and we are hopeful for a large turnout. Further treatment calls for a marrow/blood stem cell transplant once the cancer is in remission....
