50.6 Million U.S. Adults Currently Use Tobacco Products

Atlanta, GA...Findings from a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report released today show that approximately 1 in 5 U.S. adults reported currently using a tobacco product in 2019, with about 80% of those adults reporting that they use combustible products such as cigarettes.

Pfizer & BioNTech's Covid Vaccine Candidate Reaches 95% Efficacy & Will Seek Approval for Use

New York, NY & Mainz, DE... Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) and BioNTech SE (Nasdaq: BNTX) today announced that, after conducting the final efficacy analysis in their ongoing Phase 3 study, their mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccine candidate, BNT162b2, met all of the study’s primary efficacy endpoints. Analysis of the data indicates a vaccine efficacy rate of 95% (p<0.0001) in participants without prior SARS-CoV-2 infection (first primary objective) and also in participants with and without prior SARS-CoV-2 infection (second primary objective), in each case measured from 7 days after the second dose. The first primary objective analysis is based on 170 cases of COVID-19, as specified in the study protocol, of which 162 cases of COVID-19 were observed in the placebo group versus 8 cases in the BNT162b2 group. Efficacy was consistent across age, gender, race and ethnicity demographics. The observed efficacy in adults over 65 years of age was over 94%.

Calaveras County Moves Back a Tier as COVID-19 Cases Surge Across the State

On Monday, November 16, 2020, Calaveras County rolled back from yellow to orange, a more restrictive tier on the state’s 4-tier COVID-19 system. This means that some indoor operations will be allowed to be open with modifications. Covid Continues Surge in Amador County with 41 New Cases

Amador County, CA – Amador County Public Health confirms forty-one new cases of COVID-19 in Amador since last Tuesday’s update. The new cases include 23 males and 18 females, 13 children under the age of 18, 20 aged 18-49, 4 aged 50-64, 4 over 65 years of age; 4 residing in Ione, 12 living in Jackson, 5 living in Pine Grove, 8 in Pioneer, 3 in Plymouth/surrounding areas, 8 residing in Sutter Creek/Amador City, and 1 in Volcano. These cases are linked to transmission among extended family, household transmission, and gatherings.

Calaveras Public Health Confirms 11 New Cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County

San Andreas, CA...On Tuesday, November 17, 2020, Calaveras Public Health confirmed eleven additional cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. COVID-19 cases include four females and two males between 18-49 years of age, and three females and two males over the age of 65. There are four cases to report in District 1, one case in District 3, four cases in District 4, and two cases in District 5. There are no new cases to report in District 2.

Moderna’s COVID-19 Vaccine Candidate Delivers Efficacy of 94.5% in Phase 3 Study

Cambridge, Mass...Moderna, Inc. (Nasdaq: MRNA), a biotechnology company pioneering messenger RNA (mRNA) therapeutics and vaccines to create a new generation of transformative medicines for patients, today announced that the independent, NIH-appointed Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) for the Phase 3 study of mRNA-1273, its vaccine candidate against COVID-19, has informed Moderna that the trial has met the statistical criteria pre-specified in the study protocol for efficacy, with a vaccine efficacy of 94.5%. This study, known as the COVE study, enrolled more than 30,000 participants in the U.S. and is being conducted in collaboration with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Copperopolis, CA...We had the pleasure to attend the Mark Twain Medical Center New Clinic Construction Toast this morning. The Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) has begun construction in Copper Town for new Family Medical Clinic.  The new clinic will be at 430 Sawmill Road Copperopolis Ca. Town Square. The funding for this project comes not only from Dignity Health Mark Twain Medical Center but from Mark Twain Medical Center Foundation & Mark Twain Health Care District. Governor Newsom Announces Immediate Actions to Curb Covid Spread & Most Counties Move to Restrictive Status

Sacramento, CA...As COVID-19 cases sharply increase across the country and California, Governor Gavin Newsom and state public health officials announced immediate actions today to slow the spread of the virus. The state is pulling an emergency brake in the Blueprint for a Safer Economy resulting in 94.1 percent of California’s population in the most restrictive tier. This change is effective tomorrow. The state will reassess data continuously and move more counties back if necessary. California is also strengthening its face covering guidance to require individuals to wear a mask whenever outside their home, with limited exceptions.

Sonora, CA...Cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in Tuolumne County at an explosive rate, with Public Health receiving reports of 95 cases so far over the weekend; 45 on Saturday and 50 on Sunday. It is evident that we are experiencing community transmission and advise the public to stay home except for essential needs. In addition, it is vital for individuals who are having symptoms to stay home and avoid going to work or school.

Tuolumne County Public Health - COVID-19 Update with 24 New Cases

Tuolumne County, CA.. There are a total of 24 new cases to report as of November 13th, 2020. They include two males under 20 and one female under 20, two men and one woman in their 20’s, two women and three men in their 30’s, one woman and three men in their 40’s, three women in their 50’s, two women in their 60’s, one man and one woman in their 70’s and two men in their 80’s. Of those, two individuals were hospitalized. Fourteen individuals previously isolated at home and one hospitalized individual were released from isolation November 13th, 2020.
