US To Cede Oversight Of Domain Name System To International Body On October 1st |
Posted by: thepinetree on 08/17/2016 11:13 AM
|
Washington, DC...Two months ago, we passed an important milestone in a nearly 20-year effort to privatize the Internet domain name system (DNS). We announced on June 9 that the transition proposal developed by the Internet multistakeholder community meets the criteria we outlined in March 2014 when we declared our intent to transition NTIA’s stewardship role related to the DNS. While this was a significant moment in this journey, we said in June that the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which currently operates the IANA functions under a contract with NTIA, still had work to do to implement key action items called for in the transition plan.

Huge Crowd At Tree Mortality Meeting. No Quick Fixes & Lots Of Work Ahead. |
Posted by: thepinetree on 08/15/2016 12:48 PM
|
Avery, CA...The Avery Middle School Gym was filled to overflowing on Saturday with community members, government representatives, and private companies concerned about tree mortality in our area. The cliff note version...The problem is huge and it may get worse before it gets better. The main culprits are beetles, drought & overcrowded forests. If standing dead trees on your property could impact utility lines, roadways or could cause an issue to the public there is probably help available to remove them. If standing dead trees on Stanislaus National Forest Lands could impact your your home there are probably ways to get them removed.
