Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital Awards Grants to Community Organizations

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital has announced the recipients of the 2010 CHW Community Grant Program. A grand total of $22,000 will be distributed to the Calaveras Children’s Dental Project, the Calaveras Senior Center, the Resource Connection Early Childhood Programs and the Resource Connection Food Bank to support their community projects. Each year Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital and Catholic Healthcare West seek to partner with other nonprofit organizations who are working to improve the health status and quality of life of the communities we serve and whose efforts embody the five core values of Dignity, Collaboration, Justice, Stewardship and Excellence. The recipients will receive their recognition and funding at a luncheon to be held in early 2011...

Murphys, CA...Carl Truman Self Jr. Passed away yesterday at his home in Murphys. He was 80 years old. Carl was born on July 4, 1930 in Oklahoma and moved to California as a very young boy. He is survived by his high school sweethart and wife of 62 years Joan of Murphys, Jeff (Pat) Self of Arcata, Nick (Sharon) Self of Camp Connell, Denise (Richard) Schaupp of Cambria, Judy (Gary) Lynn of Gardenerville, Chris (Paula) Self of Arnold, Scott (Lisa) Self of Avery. He also leaves behind 8 Grand-Children and 3 Great Grand Children...

Angels Camp, CA....Bear Valley Mountain Resort held their Winter preview to the local community this evening at Greenhorn Creek Resort. They also gave special recognition to Local Tough Mudders and held preview meetings for the Race, Devo, All Mountain and Freestyle Teams. The largest news is that Bear Valley is opening up the "Village Bowl" which adds 400 new acres of ski-able terrain to the resort. With this Bear Valley becomes the only resort in California to expand this year....
