Toyota Issues Statement Regarding NHTSA Settlement

Torrance, CA...Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announced today that it has reached two settlement agreements with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration related to the timeliness of recalls conducted by the company in 2005 to address potential concerns with steering relay rods and from 2007 to early 2010 to address the potential for pedal entrapment by unsecured, incompatible or improperly installed floor mats. Toyota has agreed to pay $32.425 million as part of these settlements, without admitting to any violation of its obligations under the U.S. Safety Act....

Calaveras Visitors Bureau to Relocate...Visitor's Center to Close

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Visitors Bureau (CVB) Board of Directors announced today that the CVB will be relocating its offices to another location in downtown Angels Camp and closing the visitor’s center.  According to CVB Board President, Darrell Slocum, “After careful consideration, the CVB Board concluded that while the visitor’s center provides a valuable service, the cost of operating it significantly impacts the marketing budget. The primary function of the CVB is marketing Angels Camp and Calaveras County to tourists, potential tourists and those influencing and directing travel decisions. That needs to remain our primary focus.”...

Still No Lease Agremeent for Calaveras Visitor's Bureau

Angels Camp, CA.....At tonight's Angels Camp City Council meeting, one of the big agenda items was mutual agreement on the Lease for the CVB office on Main Street in Angels Camp. Their rent agreement up to this point has been to provide marketing services to help raise the TOT or Transient Occupancy Revenue for the City. The City if Angels Camp originally proposed charging the CVB $2,000 per month due to City budget issues to renew the lease on their downtown location. That amount has come down to $1,100 per month and the two parties have seemed close to finalizing and agreement for weeks. The Visitor's Bureau presented the City Council with Lease Clarifications at the meeting this evening that they felt needed clarifying from the original agreement...
