Calaveras Community Foundation Adds New Board Member |
Posted by: thepinetree on 10/20/2015 08:20 AM
|
Angels Camp, CA...Long-time Calaveras resident, Merita Callaway, was recently welcomed to the Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) Board of Directors. Merita has lived in Calaveras County for over 28 years and is, probably, best known as the 2nd longest serving member of the Board of Supervisors. She represented District 3 from 1993-2014. She is a graduate of the University of San Francisco with a Secondary Teaching Credential. Prior to the Board of Supervisors, she was the PG&E Mother Lode Manager. A well-respected county resident, Merita is a member of several community groups: Advisory Member of the Calaveras Big Trees Association, Sierra-Nevada Logging Museum, Murphys Community Club, Calaveras Grown and Calaveras Humane Society to name a few. Merita’s daughter, a graduate of Bret Harte High School, lives in the Bay Area.

Calaveras Community Foundation Begins Distribution Of Disaster Relief Funds |
Posted by: thepinetree on 10/20/2015 09:12 AM
|
Angels Camp, CA...A Disaster Relief Fund, established by the Calaveras Community Foundation as a result of the horrific Butte Fire, is drawing donations from individuals and group in all parts of this country and beyond. “We have been heartened by the response to our appeal,” states CCF treasurer Brent Harrington. “We have exceeded $150 thousand and it is coming not only from Calaveras and its neighboring counties but from as far away as the east coast and the Netherlands.” Several local businesses or organizations have staged fundraisers or committed the profits from already established events. “We are gratified that these civic minded people feel that the best way to channel their money and concerns is through our Foundation. We can assure them that all the dollars raised will go to meeting the needs of those affected by this disaster,” says Harrington.
Donations may be sent to the Foundation at PO Box 1436, Angels Camp, 95222, or by using the PayPal button on its website: www.calaverascommunityfoundation.org. Please indicate “DRF” on your checks or in the PayPal comment box. For further information, call the Foundation Office at 209/736-1845. |

Investors Should Consider Selling Volatility As An Asset Class ~ By Cory Burnell, CFA |
Posted by: thepinetree on 10/13/2015 01:54 PM
|
Valley Springs, CA....(Local Financial Adviser Cory Burnell recently contributed to one of Forbes Magazine's 10 Best Lists) The following is his first paragraph and a link over to the Forbes piece..."Traders primarily invest in these exchange-traded products to profit from a decline in the Volatility Index, known as the VIX, and from the roll yield common in the VIX futures markets (called contango). However, there’s an opportunity here for long-term investors too because that roll yield produces significant returns over time. For example, VelocityShares Daily Inverse Short-Term ETN (XIV) launched on November 30, 2010 and since that time it is up a whopping 143% compared to almost 76% for the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY), as of September 29, 2015."

President Obama On The Trans-Pacific Partnership |
Posted by: thepinetree on 10/05/2015 01:34 PM

Washington, DC...I've spent every day of my presidency fighting to grow our economy and strengthen our middle class. That means making sure our workers have a fair shot to get ahead here at home, and a fair chance to compete around the world. My approach to trade has been guided by a unifying principle: leveling the playing field for American workers and businesses, so we can export more products stamped Made in America all over the world that support higher-paying American jobs here at home.
