Angels Camp, CA….We have received confirmation from Officer Butler of the Stockton CHP office that all of the vehicles from 49er Motors have now been accounted for and were part of normal transactions. We have also been assured that there are no open DMV issues. The closure of 49er Motors leaves a hole in the community and businesses like it are a vital part of our local economy. With the exception of a few large chain stores most of our local businesses are the hopes and dreams of people who live, work and raise their families here. They are not faceless entities but the people at the next table in a restaurant, pushing a shopping cart behind you in the store & sitting next to you at a sporting event.

Angels Camp, CA...Gold Country Financial Leadership will celebrate its grand opening on Friday, April 29 starting at 5:30 p.m. at its new office, 252 N. Main St., Angels Camp. Angels Camp Mayor Wes Kulm will officiate the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6 p.m., a service sponsored by Destination Angels Camp. During the event owners Bonnie Miller and Mary Olson will provide information about the services offered by their new business including financial planning, education on the many aspects of financial security, how families can get out of debt, and retirement maximization. San Andreas, CA...The Sierra Foothills Chapter of the California Native Plant Society held a native plant sale on April 16 at CCWD’s headquarters. Hundreds of plants, including trees, shrubs, bulbs, perennials, grasses and water-wise plants, were available for purchase. Educational booths were also set up to impart the virtues of native plants. The USFS was also on hand with pine tree seedlings for local landowners.

The top wineries, restaurants and artists of Calaveras County will converged at Ironstone Vineyards, for the tenth annual Taste of Calaveras April 16. To top off the perfect mix of wine, food and art, The Bob Eisenmann Jazz Trio will performed in the Breezeway. “This event is always fun and filled with friendly competition,” explains Brian Goss, co-owner of the Murphys Historic Hotel and long-time Taste enthusiast. “The goal is to be able to showcase the best of Calaveras food, wine and art in one place and this event is just that. San Andreas & Copperopolis, CA...The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Calaveras County Taxpayers Association, the Angels Camp Business Association and the Valley Springs Area Business Association will host our Annual Candidates Night for District 1 and District 4. During this event, each candidate will be given the opportunity to speak on their vision for the county and will be given a series of business related questions. The District 1 Candidates Night will be held on May 5, 2016 from 6pm – 8pm at the San Andreas Town Hall located at 24 Church Hill Street in San Andreas. Running for this district supervisor position will be Cliff Edson, Sharon Romano and Gary Tofanelli.

Arnold, CA...The Calaveras County Water District is holding a community meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday April 26 to provide residents with information regarding the Reach 3A Transmission Pipeline Replacement Project. Construction will begin in May and the project is expected to be complete in November. This project will replace about 20,000 feet of 12-inch diameter transmission pipeline that runs from the Arnold Cal-Fire Station along Highway 4 to Blagen Road and terminates at CCWD’s sawmill tank above White Pines.
