Don't Miss S.N.A.C's 20th Anniversary Sale

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/18/2014 12:57 PM
Arnold, CA...SNAC History...Back in the early 90′s, when Shawn was selling out of the back of his truck as “The Eddy Mart”, the most important items to have on hand were life jackets, river shorts, sandals and river knives. Oh yes, and a few things the rafting customers would want, t-shirts, hats, sunscreen, etc. It became obvious that The Eddy Mart was getting too big to operate out of a garage when the whitewater kayaks came. It was time for a storefront. That’s when providence arrived on the scene....

San Francisco, CA...Restore Hetch Hetchy put out a call to action in a special fundraising appeal to ‘outbid San Francisco’ for the rights to the Hetch Hetchy Valley last month and nearly 200 people responded bidding $63,684 – more than twice what San Francisco pays annually in rent to the National Park Service. The funds will support Restore Hetch Hetchy’s ongoing mission to return the Hetch Hetchy Valley in Yosemite National Park to its natural splendor while continuing to meet the water and power needs of all communities that depend on the Tuolumne River....

18 Candidates To Gather Sunday, September 28

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/16/2014 06:55 AM
Murphys, CA...Eighteen men and women who are running for public office in Calaveras County will gather in Murphys Community Park on Sunday, September 28, 3 to 5 p.m. so that local voters can “Meet the Candidates.” The Murphys Community Club, in conjunction with the Murphys Business Association, is organizing the event as a new approach to neighborhood campaigning. “We think this is a great way for the residents of our area, in a stress free environment, to really get to know the people who want our votes,” say MCC President Sue Friedman. “There have been forums and other public gatherings, and the candidates have been attending events and knocking on doors, but here is a chance to interact informally with all the candidates in one place, at one time.”

Murphys Historic Hotel's Hotel Hell Premiere Party Was Heavenly

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/10/2014 11:15 AM
Murphys, CA...Last night was the premier party for Gordon Ramsay's “Hotel Hell” episode featuring the Murphys Historic Hotel. It was a great night. Hundreds of locals packed the place to see who made the final cut during editing and onto the big screen. The owners of the Murphys Hotels agreed to do the show to promote and draw attention to the area. In reality the hotel's numbers had been steadily climbing so much of the premise of rescuing the hotel from doom was more about setting the hook for the show. The show needs problems to solve as the premise for the show. That said, the owners have implemented many of the improvements from the show and time in the limelight has elevated their game...

Tubular Skylights 101 From Top Quality Insulation & Fireplaces (209) 772-2501

Posted by: thepinetree on 09/05/2014 07:29 AM
Valley Springs, CA...While bringing natural light to interior spaces of a home was originally limited to costly, difficult-to-install, and problem-riddled traditional skylights, today's tubular devices are lighting up interiors with smart and sophisticated style. Bringing natural light into a home is a relatively easy prospect, provided the room is adjacent to at least one exterior wall. Windows and glass doors have been flooding interiors with light for centuries. But when an interior room is in need of daylight, the options become far more limiting...
