Five local Community Leaders Appointed to Mark Twain Medical Center Community Board

San Andreas, CA...Five new community members have recently been appointed to serve on the Mark Twain Medical Centers (MTMC) Community Board. The mission and purpose of the MTMC Hospital Community Board is: (a) provide local oversight of quality of care delivered in the local hospital; (b) oversee medical staff functions; and (c) to provide advice and counsel to the Dignity Health/Dignity Care Boards that reflects the communities and markets served by local facilities. Some Hospital Community Boards support individual facilities; others support several facilities in the same region or market.

Angels Camp, CA...UWPA is looking for licensed contractors who are available to provide skilled labor during a three-week period: November 2 – 20, 2020. The work is near Hathaway Pines and involves repairing and replacing sections of historic wooden flume that provides the water supply for the communities of Murphys, Douglas Flat, Vallecito and Angels Camp. Labor compensation will be negotiated based on skills and experience. This is a unique opportunity to work in a beautiful environment overlooking the Stanislaus River Canyon and ensure our community’s water supply is safe and reliable. Public Safety Power Shutoff Update: Patrols Begin at Daybreak as PG&E Issues Weather 'All Clear'

San Francisco, CA...This morning, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) electric crews will start patrolling in the air, in vehicles and on foot nearly all the power lines that were de-energized starting on Monday for the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event. Once lines are inspected and found free of damage or hazards, PG&E can proceed with restoring power to customers.

PG&E Turns Off Power for Safety to Approximately 172,000 Customers in 22 Counties in Sierra Foothills, Sacramento Valley, Northern Sierra and Elevated North Bay Terrain

San Francisco, CA...Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) confirmed this morning that customers in the Sierra Foothills, Northern Sierra and elevated North Bay terrain who were notified of an impending Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) are now without power. The PSPS event is affecting approximately 172,000 customers in 22 counties: Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, El Dorado, Humboldt, Lake, Lassen, Mariposa, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Sonoma, Tehama, Trinity, Tuolumne and Yuba. The process to turn off power to these counties was completed between approximately 9 p.m. Monday evening and 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. Power will be shut off in Kern County at approximately 2 p.m. Tuesday.


A good rule of thumb indicator for our area is Hwy 49. If East probably under PSPS Outage. If West probably not.

San Andreas, CA...Cancellation of the Highway 4 Reach 1 Water Pipeline Replacement Project and Public Outreach Meeting Today. Due to the widespread power outage in Calaveras County, CCWD is cancelling the virtual public outreach meeting scheduled for 12:00 p.m. today. The next meeting is scheduled on Tuesday September 15th at 5:30 p.m. As a reminder, please conserve water during all power outages.

Governor Newsom Signs Emergency Proclamation to Allow Additional Energy Generation Amid Heat Wave

Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom signed an emergency proclamation to free up additional energy capacity amid extreme temperatures across California.  The proclamation permits power plants to generate more power by suspending certain permitting requirements, helping to alleviate the heat-induced demands on the state’s energy grid. Facilities are required to report any violations of these suspended permitting requirements to relevant local and state regulatory bodies. The proclamation also contains provisions related to the use of generators and auxiliary ship engines.

Flex Alert in Effect for Next Two Days to Help Protect Power Grid Stability

Folsom, CA...Consumers should prepare for the likelihood of rotating electric outages. The California Independent System Operator (ISO) issued a statewide Flex Alert, a call for Californians to conserve electricity, to prevent or limit expected rotating power outages today. Flex Alerts are in effect from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow to reduce strain on the power system.

Sierra Pacific Industries California Forestlands Closed to Public Access Due to Extreme Wildfire Danger

Anderson, CA – Due to extreme wildfire conditions and risk to lives and property, Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI) is closing its California forestlands to public access. This closure will begin Friday, Sept. 4, at 5 p.m. and remain in effect until further notice. “SPI takes its commitment to protecting our forest resources and public safety seriously,” said Andrea Howell, SPI spokeswoman. “With weather conditions continuing to bring significant wildfire risk, along with fire-fighting resources already fully deployed across the state for other wildfires, we made the difficult decision to close our lands to public access and recreation.”
