Bear Valley, CA....Bear Valley Mountain Resort held their final Slopestyle and Progression Session of the season on Saturday March 8th. This year they offered $1500 in prizes. There was an Amateur and Open Division. Slopestyle is freestyle snowboarding and skiing competition. Slopestyle is also emerging as a niche in the world of mountainbiking with new competitions emerging that seek ways to judge the new breed of freeriders. In slopestyle, the rider or skier is free to choose his or her own route through a course consisting of various terrain features, such as bumps, rails, and jumps....

Sierra Invitational Track Meet Results~By Rod Weathers

Angels Camp, CA...We have the Sierra Invitational track meet results. "We had a good showing for the first meet of the year. Tuck was 2nd overall in Shot Put and we think may have now worked his way onto the record board at Bret Harte as his coach thought he may be 3rd all time best at Shot at Bret Harte. He is 1 1/2ft away from the varsity Shot record set back in '79 by Kurt Hecker at 50'-5" . Alex Ballard for the girls varsity placed 3rd in shot and disc. Varsity girls distance medley placed 2nd!!!! It was nice to see how well Bret Harte did as a team, boys varsity 13th, girls varsity 6th!!! JV girls at 16th." For full results..

Bear Valley, CA...Congratulations are in order for local resident, Justice Rasmussen, of the Bear Valley Race Team, for qualifying for the Junior Olympics coming up in Basin, ID. With the conclusion of the final Junior Olympics qualifier at Squaw Valley over the weekend, Justice amassed enough points to join the other Top 27 racers in Far West on March 21st-24th. Zac Comstock also of the Bear Valley Race Team, is the first alternate should any of the other racers decline to participate. Complete JO qualifier scoring can be found at...

Bear Valley Racers Ski Hot at Sierra Summit Last Weekend! We have over 40 minutes of footage!

Bear Valley, CA...The Bear Valley Ski Race Team participated in another USSA race last weekend. This time, Sierra Summit played host to the Far West Teams. Our Bear Valley Racers pulled out all the stops at the J4 Super G and J5 Big G races. In the J5 Ladies Big G, Keely Cashman took first place both days. Not to be outdone by his little sister, Jordan Cashman matched the effort by taking home first place both days in J5 Men. The J4s also stepped up the pace with Mackenzie Comstock, of Big Trees Village, taking first place both days in the Super G and Erik Arvidsson taking first place on Saturday in the Mens J4 Super G.....

Angels Camp, CA….Six teams from the tennis league, including Bret Harte, Calaveras, Amador, Linden, Summerville, and Argonaut participated in the second annual pre-season kick off tournament this weekend. The purpose of this tournament is to meet everyone in league and to scope out possible competition….

Bear Valley, CA...Tomorrow Bear Valley Cross Country hosts the 35th Annual Bjornloppet Race. It is one of most prestigious events on the cross county racing calendar on the West Coast. The Bjornloppet offers 10k & 20k lenghts for you to test your skills and fitness levels against the other competitors. This event has become somewhat of a reunion event as well. It seems to draw the Bear Valley veterans back to the area for a visit.
