Central Sierra/Hwy 4 Fishing Report for August 10, 2009~by Bill Reynolds

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/10/2009 08:54 PM
Lake Alpine has been excellent fishing this past week as DFG stepped up fish plants. Bait casters should try Gulp Power Eggs, Gulp Power Bait, Floating Power Eggs, Gulp Nightcrawlers, inflated nightcrawlers, and salmon eggs on a 24" to 30" leader using a sliding sinker. Lure casters should try Kastmasters, Panther Martin spinners, and Rooster Tails. Trollers should try Apex, Needlefish, Glo Bugs, Triple Teazers, and Wedding Rings behind a small dodger tipped either with a nightcrawler or a Gulp Nightcrawler. You must troll slow, 1 to 1.2 mph. Fly fishermen have been using woolly buggers, stone fly nymphs, ants, adams, stimulators and bead head nymphs. Try using a sinking fly line for better success.....

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/04/2009 10:53 AM
Copperopolis, CA....Tony Nunes seems like your average all American kid, the natural good looks, the teen confidence, the good grades, but underneath all that average boy charm lay a 2008 2nd place overall winner in Jr. 13-15 Ski lites class World Finals held in Havasu City, Arizona. Thats right, World Finals. Tony competed against 18 other countries in 24 classes to achieve his title. This kid is no slouch....

Fishing Report...Trout: bank fishing at Melones is done for the season. Night fishing for trout under a submersible light has been great. Sink your light 20 feet deep and fish 30-50 feet deep with a crawler or crawler/Powerbait combo. To learn more about this fun was of fishing, attend our seminar this Sunday. Kokanee: Is red hot for anglers who are on the water at dawn, so get up early. Easy limits of small but fat 14"-16" fish are being caught. Fish the main lake near the spillway, the dam or Rose Island. Kokanee are moving deeper, and can be found 50-70 feet deep- deeper in the hottest part of the day. New Melones Lake Fishing Report~by Glory Hole Sports

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 07/21/2009 07:55 PM
Trout: bank angling at Melones is done for the season- head to local creeks, or better yet, to higher elevation lakes such as Alpine or Spicer. Night fishing for trout under a light has started this week. Try dropping a submersible light 20 feet deep and fish 30-50 feet deep with a crawler or crawler/Powerbait combo. Mark Imperial and Ryan Gonzalez from Stockton have this method down to a science, including using the moon phases as well as hitting the creek channels at the right time to catch both their limits at 36 feet deep with......
