Bear Valley, CA....Bear Valley Mountain Resort will host the second of it's AT&T GS Race Series this Saturday, February 16th. Other race dates of this series are February 16th and March 15th, 2008. Bear Valley's GS Racing is an awesome way to spend your afternoon. Open to all ages and abilities, test your times against other Bear Valley riders. Registration: Sign up the day of the race at the slope-side Special Events shack from 9:30am~10:30am. Entry Fees are $10/race for Adults (13+) and $5/race for Kids (12 and under). $20 Bib Deposit. Angels Camp, CA…. Today, more than 60 boats averaging 150 people participated in the annual Trout Fishing Derby at New Melones Lake in Angels Camp. The competition began at dusk (6am). Fishermen from all over Northern California came to compete for two titles and grand prizes. The two competitions were biggest stringer “The Biggest Fish” and top four, two fish stringers “Best of Two”....

Angels Camp, C.A…Life’s been good for the Bret Harte Varsity Boys Basketball team lately; the Bullfrogs continues to stomp its opponents with significant winning scores. The team’s most recent game, Thursday, Feb. 7, saw a 56-35 victory against Linden. Bret Downey scored the most points for the Bret Harte team with 17 points, followed closely by Tim Minton with 13 points.

White Pines, CA...Last Friday, Hazel Fischer Elementary School’s 4th and 5th graders got to try their hand (and feet) at the art of snowshoeing. Students were getting “cabin fever” from weather-delayed ski trips, cancelled basketball games, and from their play area at school being reduced to a narrow strip of wet blacktop. Dodge Ridge Hosted the Ryan Lavagnino Classic Last Weekend

Dodge Ridge, CA...The Dodge Ridge Race Team played host this weekend to the Far West USSA ski race teams. It was the firs GS race for the year. The Central Series Teams that participated in this race were Bear Valley, Dodge Ridge, Sierra Summit and Badger Pass. Even though the conditions were tough, there4 was still over 100 young ambitious athletes that performed well. It was cold and blustery at the top of the course. Everyone had to keep moving to stay warm. The Dodge Ridge Staff even brought up blankets to keep the starting line staff warm. The race was cancelled on Sunday due to Dodge Ridge receiving too much snow on Saturday night, which made it difficult to be able to set the course for Sunday. The results from Saturday's times determined the outcome for the weekend...
