Ripon, CA...Calaveras was up 10- 0 at the half only to see Ripon score 14 in the second. The skins fought valiantly but ended up riding the bus home still down 4 points. Friday Night Football Scores... Tough Night for Local Teams

Ripon, CA...The first scores are starting to come in. Calaveras is up 10-0 at the half. Unfortunately they ended up on the short end of the score, Ripon 14, Calaveras 10. Bret Harte had a tough time getting any started against Escalon and ended up dropping the game Escalon 43, Bret Harte 0. Other area scores... Summerville 34, Mariposa County 6, Modesto Christian 54, Amador 14, Hilmar 20, Argonaut 14. Sonora continued their roll with a win last night as well, Sonora 35, Central Valley 12

Tuolumne, CA...The Bret Harte Men's Soccer Team continued their roll with a 5-2 win over Summerville earlier this week. The girls volleyball teams unfortunately came home empty handed. Jeff Rasmussen was on scene capturing all the action...

Jersey Auction Highlights Preseason Games....Auction gives fans a chance to take home game worn preseason Thunder jerseys

Stockton, CA....The Stockton Thunder, a two-time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," has announced a preseason game worn jersey silent auction is scheduled to begin with tonight's preseason home game against the Bakersfield Condors, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Stockton Arena. The gold and white jerseys, which will be worn for both preseason games against Bakersfield on tonight and Saturday at Rabobank Arena, have been worn by the Thunder throughout preseason training camp. Each jersey features the player's nameplate and the team's familiar numbering style placed on the back of the jersey.....

The 2009 deer hunting season along the highway 4 corridor has started slower than expected. The majority of deer hunters this year feel the numbers of deer in the herd are down. There are some reasons why the hunters are not seeing deer right now. First we have had a warm summer which result in the deer staying in the high country. The deer also turn nocturnal in the summer months. The reasons for deer turning nocturnal is cooler temperatures, and they can avoid predators, mainly mountain lions by moving and feeding at night. The undefeated Bret Harte Varsity Soccer team will have their first home game on the new athletic field this Friday, October 9, 2009! Coach Doug Gilbert would like to invite the entire community to come and support not only the Varsity team but the JV team (with a 4 & 1 record) also! Keystone, CO...Arapahoe Basin ski area officials announce that its opening day for their 2009-2010 ski season will be Friday, October 9, 2009, the ski area’s earliest opening in history. The Exhibition chairlift will open to the public at 9:00 a.m. Friday. The Calaveras Jr. Redskins had a bye last week, and this week they returned to play the Linden Lions at Linden High School. VARSITY: The Jr. Redskins Varsity team pounded the Linden Lions and delivered another shutout game this week with a final score of 46-0. So far this season the Jr. Redskins have scored 166 points and only given up16. Jr. Reds Varsity Coach, Perri Turner said, “We went into this game against the Lions like we do all the other games. We know not to under estimate this team, and as we expected, they played hard and never gave up.”.....

San Andreas, CA....Although Calaveras was not the victor in Friday night’s bout against Hilmar, they can take great pride in the fact that they played a fantastic game – and played it much better than they did against this same team last year. The game started out looking as if things were going remarkably well for Calaveras. In the first 20 seconds of the game, CHS Junior, Chris Ussery, grabbed hold of Hilmar’s kickoff at the 8 yard line and ran the ball back a full 92 yards for a touchdown. ....
