Mr. Frog’s Wild Ride – A Ribbiting Ride~By the PineTree Pedaler, Brett Loring |

Murphys, CA....Local cyclists and many from a few hours away had a scenic tour of Jumpin’ Frog country from the saddle Sunday on the second annual Mr. Frog’s Wild Ride, a benefit for Feeney Park in Murphys. Two riders from San Jose shared that they were making a long weekend of it with their spouses while staying in the Arnold area. Another from Stockton shared that he enjoyed camping out in Feeney Park in the comfort of his VW Vanagon. Several humble campsites ....

On the Starting Rocks for Measure "K"...Don't Miss the Fab Measure "K" Video Cheer Enclosed |
Posted by: thepinetree on 10/19/2008 12:20 PM

Angels Camp, CA...On Friday afternoon the Bret Harte Swim Team led by their coach Karla St. Louis assembled where they hope a new Pool Complex will be built. A rock pile had to substitute for the starting blocks they plan on standing on soon. Funding for the project hinges on the passage of Measure K which is on the ballot this fall. The swim team would probably benefit more from Measure K than any single entity. The aquatic team is a nomadic one. Their practices take them to the Calaveras Pool and also the Rites of Passage Pool. This has a significant negative impact on the team. The Kids and our community deserve a pool. A regulation pool on this side of the county would be a huge boon not only for the team but also for the entire community...

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/16/2008 09:31 AM
|
Murphys, CA...We had the pleasure to speak with John Yost about this weekends Mr. Frog's Wild Ride. John is one of the organizers of the ride that is one of the big fundraisers for the all volunteer supported Feeney Park complex. There are actually two separate rides to choose from based on your cycling ability. The 50K should be comfortable for any recreational cyclist and the 100k is the perfect ride for those of you who relish a challenge. So pump up the tires and fill those water bottles and pedal for the park! Our conversation is enclosed as well as additional information...

Central Sierra/Hwy 4 Fishing Report for Week of 10/8/08~By Bill Reynolds of Ebbetts Pass Sporting Goods |

Lake Alpine has been dropping steadily this past week. You can launch a small aluminum boat, kayak or canoe, but it would be difficult if not impossible to launch a larger boat. Fishing has been excellent this past week due to cooler weather and a recent small rain storm. The big fish have been cruising the shallows.....
