"Work! It was always there for me!" A Quote on Work From Jay S. Hamilton 1916-1990 |

Denair, CA...Jay Hamilton inspired many of the people around him by just the person he was. His iron will, determination and ability to laugh off setbacks seems missing in today's world. As he was fighting his final battle against a Glioblastoma Brain Tumor. His three sons were gathered around him one of the last times all of us would be together. About 2 am one night all of us were asking him what were some of the secrets of his life and what wisdom could he impart to his sons. His speech was starting to fail so his answer was brief but years later still seems profound. What he said was "Work! It was always there for me" Work for my father was friend ready to lift his spirits and carry him forward. It was always there for him to pour his aches, challenges, and energy into...
Jay S. Hamilton in 1942 or 1943 with his wife Ruby and Oldest Son Steve.

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." Henry David Thoreau
