Emergency Camping Prohibition on the Eldorado National Forest

Placerville, CA...In addition to the emergency closures and the fire ban announced for California national forests earlier today, the Eldorado National Forest is one of 5 forests Northern California included in Regional Order No. 20-09 which was issued this evening, and prohibits all camping except in wilderness areas and within 500 feet of the Pacific Crest Trail. This order is effective beginning Tuesday, September 8, 2020, for the Eldorado National Forest, Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, Lassen National Forest, Plumas National Forest, and Tahoe National Forest.

Death on Lake Camanche, BUI Crash Leaves Eight Injured, One Female Deceased

Jackson, CA...On September 6, 2020 at approximately 9:19 PM Amador County Sheriff’s dispatch was notified that a vessel ran aground and crashed while on Lake Camanche. It was reported that the vessel had eight occupants to include 6 adults and 2 children who were all injured.

Arnold, CA...Ladies, Gents, Boys & Girls...The National Weather Service says it will be excessively hot and the fire risk will be high for the next few days. One great things about our area is that if you don't like the weather where you are in 30 minutes or so up or down the hill you can change your heat setting by over 20 degrees. Bridgeport, CA...Temperatures are expected to be extremely hot and dry today with ridgetop winds out of the east through the morning and expecting the winds to shift in the later afternoon out of the west. The fire is located in extremely steep terrain which can cause the wind to flow in various directions and affect the fire behavior. Heenan Lake is closed to the public.

Lake Tahoe, CA/NV...Parking areas at the Tallac Historic Site, Kiva Beach/Picnic area and the Taylor Creek Visitor Center reopened yesterday at 7am. The parking areas at the Tallac Historic Site, Kiva Beach/Picnic area and the Taylor Creek Visitor Center were temporarily closed to allow for treatment to mitigate fleas in the area, which have tested positive for Bubonic Plague bacteria.
