Jackson, CA...Local Entrepreneurs Bhinda and Deepa Singh who opened their first convenience store in Angels Camp last year have just opened their second location in Jackson on Hwy 49. They are bringing the same great customer service and prices to Jackson that have made Angels Mini Mart a fixture in Angels Camp. The old Sierra Trading Post Location has been remodelled and is now ready to serve customers. It is great to see young men taking risks and making them pay off even in today's economy.

Twain Harte, CA...Crews are working an overturned vehicle in the Twain Harte area on Mariposa Drive at Utah Drive. The accident is non-injury but the vehicle is in the middle of the roadway. Please use caution in this area...

September is here and the Annual Fiddletown Fiddlers’ Jam and Fiddle Contest will soon be upon us. Held every third Saturday of September, the Fiddletown Community Center would like you to join in this year’s music festival and street fair on Saturday, September 17th 2011. Look for the family fun activities at the base of the Giant Fiddle to last all day from 10AM – 5PM and it is FREE admission.....

Amador County, CA....The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on State Route 49 from Rancheria Creek Park to the Amador/El Dorado County line. Work will begin on Monday, August 22, 2011, through Friday, August 26, 2011,
from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Crews will stripe the road in this location....

Jackson, CA....The Amador Student Music Fund (ASMF) has received a second grant from the James Irvine Foundation in San Francisco. This generous grant will be used for children in the county who want to learn to play an instrument. ASMF, an independent 501(c)3 music program founded in 2008, provides and promotes the integration of music into the lives of financially challenged families and to the student.....

Ione, CA.....Music that spans ragtime, classical, polkas, marches, swing and big band, jazz, and popular standards, even Disney movies will be featured at the AmadorArts August 5th TGIF free concert in Ione at the Castle Oaks Golf Club. Sierra Sax & Brass Quartet was formed by musicians, all living in Amador, in 2009 as an affiliate to the Central Coast Saxophone Quartet, which still performs in the Bay Area and will be making its 17th annual appearance at the Gilroy Garlic Festival.....
