Arnold, CA...The power grid along Hwy 108 seems to have taken the brunt of the Christmas Night system. There are widespread outages from Twain Harte to Pinecrest. Along Hwy 4 there are neighborhood level outages in several locations. Amador County looks to be in the best shape so far. Details are below...

Arnold, CA...The latest from the National Weather Service for our area...Heavy snow occurring. Travel will be very difficult to impossible. Tree branches could fall as well. Additional snow accumulations in the Sierra of 3 to 5 feet, with localized amounts up to 8 feet, are expected above 3000 feet, 6 to 18 inches between 2000 and 3000 feet with localized amounts up to 3 feet, and less than 6 inches below 2000 feet. Additional snow accumulation for the Coastal Range and Shasta County of less than 2 inches below 1500 feet, 4 to 12 inches above 1500 feet, with localized amounts up to 2 feet, are expected.

UC ANR to Hire Three Scientists to Serve Central Sierra

San Andreas, CA...Residents of the Central Sierra will soon be seeing benefits from California’s historic investment in the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources. The state restored UC ANR’s budget to pre-COVID levels of FY 2019-20 and provided a 5% increase plus an additional $32 million in ongoing funding, bringing total state support to $107.9 million for the division, which contains the county-based UC Cooperative Extension, 4-H Youth Development, UCCE Master Food Preserver, and UCCE Master Gardener programs.

Arnold, CA...PG&E's system is straining under the load of the Winter Storm System with significant outages along 120 from Groveland into Yosemite, Hwy 108 at higher elevations, Hwy 4 in Arnold area & also in Amador County.
