13th Annual ‘Take a Chance on Love’ Event Raises $17,000 |

Jackson, CA...On Monday, February 14, Hospice of Amador & Calaveras announced the eight lucky winners in the 13 th Annual ‘Take a Chance on Love’ Valentine’s Day Drawing at the Jackson Hospice Thrift Store which was livestreamed on KVGC Radio and Facebook. Executive Director Ariane Debien said, “I am truly overwhelmed to learn of the community’s continued generosity to Hospice of Amador & Calaveras. This year’s event raised $17k with the sale of 3,300 tickets. I want to thank our generous prize donors, volunteers, and everyone who purchased a ticket to support our hospice mission.”

Ione, CA...After careful consideration, I have decided to formally announce my retirement from the Ione Police Department. My last scheduled day at the Department will be March 31, 2022. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family, friends, the Mayor and City Council, the City Manager, the members of the Ione Police Department, and especially the citizens of Ione for the support I have received over the years. I could not have achieved my level of success without it.

At higher elevations, a chance of rain and snow showers in the late evening and early morning. Snow showers late in the night. At lower elevations, a chance of rain showers late in the evening. Rain showers likely after midnight, then rain and snow showers likely late in the night. Breezy, colder. Lows 15 to 30 higher elevations...27 to 37 lower elevations. Little or no snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 3 inches higher elevations. Snow level 6500 feet decreasing to 5500 feet after midnight. Prevailing southwest winds 10 to 25 mph decreasing to 5 to 15 mph after midnight. Gusts up to 40 mph. Over ridges...prevailing southwest winds 20 to 35 mph.

The Central Sierra Broadband Roadmap, Community Input Wanted through Surveys and Webinar Participation |

Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne and Mariposa Counties have invested in creating a broadband roadmap for the Central Sierra region. Efforts are underway to identify gaps in broadband service, establish priorities, and to leverage funding opportunities to accelerate investment in broadband infrastructure. The Counties have hired broadband consulting firm, NEO Connect to create the broadband report which will identify existing broadband and fiber optic assets within the study area, identify gaps in service coverage and will put together a plan to fill those gaps. Other planning activities will be working with local stakeholders and regional service providers, establishing plans and estimated capital costs, and identifying potential partners to facilitate improving broadband infrastructure.
