Over 5,000 PG&E Customers Powerless as Storm Intensifies

Arnold, CA...PG&E's Outage system is reporting about 5,000 customers without power in our coverage area at this time. This includes about 500 in Calaveras County and a large outage of over 4,200 in the Ione area in Amador County. There are also numerous small outages.

Up to 6 Feet of Snow in Some Locations Now Through Tuesday

Arnold, CA...A strong winter storm will bring very heavy snow to the mountains of northern California. Snow is falling over portions of I- 5 north of Redding and will spread southeast into the southern Cascades and northern Sierra into Sunday morning. Snow levels will gradually lower over time through late Monday and Tuesday. Expect tremendous snow accumulations at pass levels with yardsticks required for snow measurement. This will results in significant travel delays with extremely difficult to impossible travel over the mountains. Strong winds will further reduce visibilities during this event with whiteout conditions.

Father & Son Arrested for Reckless Arson in Caldor Fire

Placerville, CA...A father and son are now under arrest, accused of reckless arson in connection with the Caldor Fire, the massive wildfire that burned more than 200,000 acres in El Dorado and Amador Counties. David Scott Smith, 66, and Travis Shane Smith, 32, were arrested pursuant to Ramey warrants. A Ramey warrant is a warrant that is issued before criminal charges are filed.

Winter Storm Watch Starting Wednesday Afternoon into Thursday

Arnold, CA....The National Weather Service is forecasting a Winter Storm Watch starting Wednesday afternoon..."Winter storm will bring mountain snow late Wednesday afternoon into Thursday. A storm system will approach northern California on Wednesday afternoon, bringing with it accumulating snowfall into Thursday afternoon. Snow levels start out 6000 to 7000 feet falling to 4500 to 5500 feet Thursday morning. The heaviest snow is expected Wednesday night into Thursday morning with the majority of the accumulation above 5500 feet but some light accumulation is possible down to 4500 feet. If you have mountain travel plans be prepared for winter driving conditions, chain controls, and travel delays.
