Amador Learning Center Awarded $2500 Ethyl Grant

Sutter Creek, CA...The Ethyl Grant program from the Foundation for Rural Education and Development awarded the Amador Community College Foundation a $2500 grant for computer equipment recently. The Ethyl Grant provides matching funds to rural communities that are involved with projects aimed at bettering their communities. The grants, ranging from $500 - $2,500 are awarded throughout the year. An estimated $10,000 in funding is available in 2013...

Fire Update...Vegetation Fire Reported in Eldorado National Forest

Mt. Aukum, CA...Crews are responding to a reported vegetation fire spotted by the Blue Mountain Fire Lookout Station. It was about 30 miles north of them in the Eldorado National Forest. Not sure if it's a lightening strike fire or not but could be a possibility...

Cooks Station, CA...CHP is reporting a subject possibly thrown from a red van near Cooks Station on Hwy 88. Wow, we hope this report is inaccurate. Regardless please use caution as emergency crews and Amador County Sheriff's deputies will no doubt be working in the area....

Ione, CA...CHP is reporting a possible injury accident on Hwy 49 at Sutter Ione Road. The Calaveras County Sheriff's Department has also been called to the scene. Amador Sheriff's Department is on hand as well. Not sure if this incident is related to fatality in San Andreas but having Calaveras SO called to incident seems like it might be related. Please use caution in the area...
