Mokelumne Hill, CA...Jennifer R. Hatten, 59 passed away November 28, 2013 at home in Mokelumne Hill of a chronic illness. She was born August 26, 1954 in Alameda. Her parents were Raynold Riel and Jean (Edler) Riel. Jennifer attended Acalanes and Castro Valley High Schools, where she graduated in the top of her class. Her excellence in academia continued; she earned her B.A. in Art History, Sociology, and Recreation at CSU-Hayward and the University of Toronto. She was married to James Hatten for nearly 32 years. She left a promising career at MGM Studios to become a stay at home wife and mother. She was a member of MENSA and during her children’s formative years, she acted as the Class Mom and Brownie Troop Leader as well as other leadership roles; former Historian at Mokelumne Hill Library and Bible Study leader....

San Andreas, CA...You see them every year at this time – the bright red kettles of the Salvation Army – often accompanied by a volunteer ringing a bell. You see them in most cities and counties, including in our own Calaveras County. But many residents are unaware there is a Salvation Army Service Extension Unit right here in San Andreas. The Calaveras County Service Extension Unit of the Salvation Army is made up of a 10-person board of volunteers plus a field representative advisor from the Salvation Army. Because we are not large enough to have a Salvation Army Corps Center, we are invisible and most residents do not know we offer assistance year-round to those in need....

Amador County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform one-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound State Route 88 from Bamert Road to Jackson Valley Road for bridge work. Crews will begin work Monday, December 16, 2013, through Friday, December 20, 2013, from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Motorists should expect 15 minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible. |
