Chains Required from Cottage Springs on Hwy 4 and Hams Station on Hwy 88

Arnold, CA...Caltrans has chin controls in effect on Hwy 4 from Cottage Springs on up and on Hwy 88 chain controls are in effect from 4 miles east of Hams Station. No controls in effect on Hwy 108 at this time. Drive safe out there....

Power Outages Still Affecting Calaveras & Amador. Restoral Times Slipping

Arnold, CA...Crews are hard at work but substation power issues are still affecting over 5,000 customers in Amador and 500 - 5000 customers in Calaveras. Initially restoration times were between 3 and 5pm for most areas now they have slipped to show by 9pm tonight. Since there hasn't been high winds most of the issues today have been substation or localized outages.

High Country Claims Another Life in Missing Person Case

Hope Valley, CA...On 12/06/2012, The Alpine County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed the second person found was positively identified as Roderick Paul Clifton (44 years). Sadly, Roderick was found deceased. The investigation is ongoing. The cause of death has yet to be determined. Roderick was found in an area of heavy snow. Paula is recovering in the hospital from non-life threatening injuries....

Traffic Update...Big Rig vs Vehicle on Hwy 88

Kirkwood, CA...A big rig tow and regular tow have been summoned to an accident with luckily only minor injuries. The accident is on Hwy 88 near the Mormon Emigrant Trail. Additional sanding trucks have been ordered from Bear River to Peddler Hill. Please use caution and expect delays in the area...

Nevada Couple Stll Missing After Extensive Search. Could Have Traveled Hwy 88

Citrus Heights, CA...On 11/30/2012, Citrus Heights Police Department received a report of two missing adults. The subjects identified as Roderick Paul Clifton (44 years old) and Paula Lane (46 years old) both of Gardnerville Nevada, were last seen leaving a relative’s home in Citrus Heights on 11/29/2012 at approximately 2:45P.M. The two were supposed to return to their home in Nevada on the same date. However, neither party has been heard from since nor are they answering their cellular telephones. Relatives are fearful due to the current roadway conditions in the mountains....

2012 Mokelumne River and Reservoir Cleanups a big success

Jackson, CA...More than 215 volunteers joined forces to clean along the Mokelumne River and around Pardee and Camanche Reservoirs during the 2012 Mokelumne River and Pardee-Camanche Reservoir Cleanups on two recent Saturdays, September 15 and October 20. The volunteers removed 2,600 pounds of trash and recyclables, making our local recreation sites healthier for people, fish and wildlife. The Mokelumne River Cleanups have been held for more than 20 years. “We’re finding that Electra is cleaner every year,” said Foothill Conservancy Cleanup Coordinator Randy Berg. “Over time, we’ve pulled out a lot of the large items, so it takes less time and effort to do the cleanup now. Having 50 volunteers at Electra this year made it go really fast. The high-school students and everyone else worked very hard and did a great job.”...

Mokelumne Hill, CA...The Mokelumne Hill Community Historical Trust’s 28th annual Turkey In A Barrel Dinner is slated for Saturday, November 17th in the newly restored Moke Hill Town Hall. This is always a sellout event and starts with a social hour at 6:00 pm followed by dinner at 7:00 pm. A rather special “ticket raffle” auction, cocktails and greeting friends starts the evening and ends with prizes announced at 8:00 pm. This dinner has become a Moke Hill favorite with turkey and all the fixins, homemade desserts and neighbors you haven’t seen for a while.
